METRO EXODUS Sam's Story All Endings (Good Ending & Bad Ending) Devil: I chose the ending to not blow up the ship, and I feel like that was the morally better choice to make. Let me explain:
The Captains entire problem with the sub crew wasnt with Tom. He even admitted to liking him. It was Klim. Klim was the issue and the Captain wanted him gone, while Tom simply just disagreed. However, at the very end, Klim BECAME Toms problem as well, and the Captain and Tom didnt have a reason to -hate- eachother. Klim became the common enemy and after Sam killed him, there was honestly no real reason to go after Tom either. Tom treated Sam and the Captain with nothing but respect and showed immense trust towards them as well. It was always just Klim that was the problem, but he got dealt with, so the problem was done. Tom, and his men, wasnt a threat anymore and thus there was no need to blow the ship up. Could Tom have used the nukes on board? Maybe, but thats the risk Sam had to take with a fresh ticket home to the US. It was either take the risk, or just not go home. There was nothing else he couldve done.
Why kill Tom and the whole crew, when it was just Klim who was the problem? Thats all Im saying here.

whats the good and wich one is the bad?
letting a nuclear sub roam frea treathening people to rule them by iron fist to recreate civilization as Tom says, or sinking that ship and being loyal to the Metro Ranger of helping and save the people purpose thus sacrifice of a almost unknown dude who was not insane for not wanting anymore death among human beigns?
for some moral reason the good ending in artyom journey between last light and exodus centered in not harming people, and not acting like jury judge and executioner of others
after all that, for me, the good ending is blowing up the freaking nukesubie

i boom the sub, i put myself into this protagonist and i am thinking a couple of things, the most powerful weapon is into the human hands again. And of course trust is important but in my opinions i cant trust and hand over the nukes to Tom or any human beings. i think captain was right he sacrificed to end everything and i must do that. anyway as long as i am alive i will find anothe way to go back home. and more than that the reality is Sam's father maybe dead or not. so i cant risk on that. I WILL FIND ANOTHER WAY BACK HOME AS LONG AS I AMSTILL ALIVE, ONE DAY.

Everything told me to blow up the sub. I knew Tom wasn't necessarily a full blown villain, but I figured he was just the type of calculating guy that would backstab you in the back when you least expect it. So I picked to destroy it. Now obviously he did fulfil his promise and got Sam back home, but after going through all 3 Metro games, it's hard to trust people that are not your own comrades and I went with my gut instinct

For me, Tom is not trustworthy person, he was ready to betray Klim and etc(who is worse than him but still, however, if he needed, he would betray Sam as well, I believe blowing it up was right choice. I think anyone would have done the same after seeing the horrors of nuke, what if Tom nuked USA again? So from my POV, this ending will take Sam longer for his dream to come true but it will be safer and sweeter in the end.

I imagined myself coming home to my father after 20 years, assuming he was still alive. I imagined how disappointed he'd be in me knowing that I armed another power-seeking, greed driven individual with nukes trusting his word that he nor anyone in the future would ever use them. And I chose to blow it up in hopes I'd find another way.
reply

Honestly didn-t understand what the captain was doing went with Tom cause he has no reason to use the nukes he-d probably kill himself in the process if he even tried and they could of disarmed the nukes or Sent them out in the middle of the ocean unarmed the captain could of done like a thousand different things other than bLow it up

In my playthrough I was really divided between destroying the sub or not. But after being impaled by Klim I finally decided to keep it intact. Sam crossed literally half world to get the chance to go home, and, after almost losing his life, he deserved it. Also, he is in his 40s, and may never have other chance to see his father

You guys have almost forgotten about the captain? I noticed that he was in a clean and nice uniform that he used to wear when he was a real captain, instead of dirty rags but I didn't know what that meant.
After blowing the sub, I found that he was ready to face the last of his life and such a respectable man.

reply

ehh, i choose the destroy option. i mean, there are many ways to rome. it's just the matter of when and where. besides, i don't think sam would pick the -home- option canonically because the time he spent on the spartan probably thought him about the risk of letting a nuke in the hand of someone like tom
reply

I think the overall good would be the destroy it. Not that Tom would use it, most likely there would probably be another usurper in his crew to take him out and that person would probably use it.
But in terms of the good ending for the protagonist, to not blow it up.

Anyone else notice Sam's missing 4 fingers in the San Francisco ending? Tom also said to take the old man alive. I bet the old man was tortured to death on his own sub, but they couldn't show that for some reason. Also, Tom cut his fingers off.
reply

I prefer the -Bad Ending- Sam got what he needed, the world was already crap anyway, so why not take a shot at Tom's plan to at least create some sensible order that may have a potential to rebuild a nation, and he came back for Sam.
reply

It is hard to think which is the good ending. Sam going back to America is probably a better ending, but Sam detonating that sub is also a good ending since he mentioned that he won't give up on going back to America.
reply

I wish there was an option to take the detonator back to America with Sam deciding he'd be willing to see how Tom turns out, deciding that he would only blow it up if Tom made a bad move after they arrived in San Diego.
reply

of course i went home, like sam said destroying the sub would not have made a difference in a already dead world and killing 2 friends in vain made no sense, tom and the captain can work together to restore civilization
reply

I chose the sad ending. From the minute I knew what Tom had in mind, it was the only option for me. My Sam couldn't do it no matter what it cost, not after all the horror he'd seen and the hope for survivors.
reply

I kinda wanna see a game with Sam as the protagonist, seeing how life was as an American at the start, even says that he had a hard time being the only American he couldn-t do much, I wanna see that
reply

Really? You guys have it totally wrong. The -good ending- is the one where he blows up the sub. How is giving a totally shady guy total control of the very last nuclear weapons a -happy end-?
reply

I don't know why but every time I get any of these endings I always get shivers at my spine. Like have you ever gotten that feeling where you need to rest but it feels like you have to do.
reply

just finished was a bit disapointed by my decision to blow up. i prefore go home to my dad. anyway this title was fantstic. i play all 3 in a row. what a adventure! this game studio is 10/10
reply

If Klim was still with Tom I was gonna hit the button but without him I trust Tom sorry ed I liked you but I just don't see the bad or I just wasn't as negative to do he future
reply

Unfortunately, as Sam looked upon the former glory of the Golden Gate Bridge, the crew of the Sub would eventually be greeted by a cult calling itself -The Hubologists-
reply

Damn, none of the endings feel 100% good. There isn't a clear -bad ending- or -good ending- it's just the choice you make. I kind of love it and hate it at the same time
reply

I feel blowing up the sub is the good option because even if Tom does not use them when he gets old and dies who knows what the next person in charge might do with the sub
reply

Yea, I decided to blow it up because it was the -good- ending-. Man the other one was way more heart warming. The former was depressing, he was just stuck in Vladivostok
reply

Out of all the things I expected Metro, seeing a American Location, American Soldier and a god damn 1911 in a Metro game definitely was not one of those things I expected
reply

What if you make a choice where youll press a -USA flag- button when its detonating scene? I pressed the left to detonate the submarine rn but iam curious
reply

Why not disarm the nuke-. without the nuke, the sub will only be a vehicle with scary looking-. Tom can use the fake nuke to defend himself and Sam can go home-
reply

I did it on ranger so I didn-t even know you got to choose I just thought it was like the other endings where your choices during the game decided what happens
