Applying a Bald Cap to Become Walter White

Griffin dons his first bald cap to emulate Walter White from Breaking Bad. Including a test film MugshotPaparazzi: I sincerley love you Indy Mogul and I've been with you since the dawn of time, so don't hate me for this. but. It's to much tech-talk these days, I appreciate the camera/mic-news as much as the next fella. But I just would like more variation. Give Filmriot a run for their money, not saying it is, or should be competetive. Just be even more all-around filmmaking-tipsy. Still, if im alone thinking this is an issue, I'll shut the F up and be happy for the effort you guys put into the show.

Hey Griffin. I'm impressed with the makeup but the lack of color correction is killing the illusion. You are just white (not Walter White; ) ) with a little bit of color correction it would have looked ways better. Also the lights are refection in the glasses this also doesn't look as the stuff you normally show us.
Russell, you did put way to much red color into the clip, this does even more hurt my eyes after the lack of color correction in Griffins clip; )
Great show anyway: )

depends what joker you're going for, but if you're going for the smile gash check out the gash tutorial that won last weeks competition. If you omit the fake blood and apply a little bit more liquid latex it's basically the same technique you'd need for some great skin scarring. Also using thrift shop clothing can look a lot better than the fabrics you typically get at costume shops. You can get a suit at goodwill for $5 and dirty it up to look alot better than most storebought.

A lighter hand with the liquid latex definitely helps. In the past I've found putting just a smidge under the lip before flattening the prosthetic and then smoothing out what gushes out from under the prosthetic is a big help. Also another thing that can help sell the illusion for the camera is applying a light layer of colorset powder and then a very light layer of hairspray (note: this will give you a more matted look so it won't work if you're going for super shiny skin)

That stood out to me too, noticed some rolling shutter issues and some shutter related stutter. My guess is he probably didn't have time to light it properly for the shot and just cranked down to a 30 shutter to brighten things up. I was also wondering if maybe he did it with his black magic and just wasn't as familiar with the settings on it yet.

A beard is a requirement for any fresh face. That's why I don't shave, for the live show on Wednesdays, at 6pm NY time/11pm UK time, where Griffin and Russell answer your questions, as well as sometimes having guests and games - not trying to promote it or anything.

Griffin kinda reminds me of a buddy of mine with the bald head and goatee. But I recently learned of something called gelatin blender, I forget the maker but it looks like it will blend in prosthetics and stuff a lot better then just liquid latex alone.

Griffin uses green screen in the Breaking Bad part. While he doesn't say it, you can tell. Lighting, the edge between the background and Griffin, ext, give it away. And that is not Griffin's fault, green screen is just very tricky to get right.

An often easier and far more convincing way to do the bald look is to actually get rid of the hair. Cheaper too if you already have a razor on hand and don't have exceptionally dark hair on light skin.
reply

I understand his situation. Green screen was just fine. I do not mind green screen. I just thought that it was kind of funny that Indy Mogul did the exact thing Film Riot said never to do, on the same day.

I'm using a bald cap for my Halloween costume. I'm going as Freddy Kruger though so I don't have to be super carful with the application. As it being bumpy and deformed will only add to the effect: )

Have you thought about introducing a third host to Indy Mogul? Griffin and Russell are REALLY great, but I can't stop the feeling that a fresh face could really liven up the entire Indy Mogul experience!
reply

Whoa! I just noticed that Russell hid an easter egg inside last week's episode! Check out the static in the 6th second of last Monday's show, 3D Scan my Head, Explode my Head! Did anyone else notice?

Where can you get spirit gum these days other than ordering online? I have a bottle that I bought years ago but the only store I know of that sold it has been gone for at least five years.
reply

I know Russ is going for a Halloween colouring but I can't help but feel it's more Valentine's day coloured: I want a box of chocolates and a dozen roses this year please!
reply

Too, 2 funny, Russell did it again, 'Noooooooooo! '
I didn't catch it until you, Griffin, gave the 'heads-up, ' quite literally; -) Ha, ha. yes Russell scores again!

reply

They meant never to do it if you have the option, but they used the actual breaking bad sets on this video, which they couldn't have done without green screen.
reply

Very cool, but I'm afraid Griffin won't ever be able to really portray Walter White. He looks a bit like him, but is too nice of a guy to pull it off. :)
reply

makes me wish I watched Breaking Bad to get the references. yes, yes I know. Believe it or not. There are people out there who haven't seen it: )
reply

I understand that but they wanted to look like they were on the breaking bad set. They couldn't actually get to the set so they green screened it.
