I've been italian for 50 years. gosh I don't know any family having dinner at 10 p. m. or having a 4-hours long lunch if not at a wedding party. We eat in 30 minutes during work days. We usually take longer if we have guests or during family/friends reunions. We have dinner at 7 p. m. But I remember having many 15 minutes 10 p. m. dinners when coming home late form work. I heard a lot of mamma mia in Queen's and Abba's songs, very few in the real word, most of the time just to avoid curse words. These last ones I heard. and still hear a few. :-. And why do all people mimicing italians sound like an old Sofia Loren's movie? And why do all people mimicing italians just mimic south-Italy - mostly neapolitan or sicilian - dialects? I never heard anyone mimicing the dialect of people from Friuli or people from Sardegna or the german language of the italian province of sud-Tirol. They are completely different languages. Italy is a bit more complex than how it is depicted. :-D

her husband is a blue blood count and they offer her fish instead of meat because she is vegan? It sounds really bizarre to me. my ex-boyfriend was a marquis and at the table there was silver cutlery and a personal bell, also silver, to call the servants. There was a very precise etiquette to respect, things you could say and others you couldn't, the posture of the body and hands, and no doubt they knew that fish is meat.

Funny stereotypes! It's like thinking all americans behave like John Wayne in a Saloon and Far West times. The reality of course is much more complex and nuanced, but you have to read books to understand it and not only eat pop corns while drinking Coca Cola (other stereotype? .

3 hours a meal: we obviously don't work in Italy and do nothing in our lives but eating. Come ooooon (I know she's lovely, but still)
Plus, she's mispronouncing his name. Which is a bit sad, I think, considering that he's her husband!

The more italian have all dinner at ten the more american are free to dine when they want. We are not in a nice topic I tell you.
Typical is more eight for dinner by the way, ten is the exception as much as seven is.

It is a hard life for vegans in Italy, especially in Florence, home of the very juicy 1. 2kg Florentine steak to be consumed strictly on their own (exact not shared)
