If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed. Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the second option, with technology driving ever-increasing inequality.
Stephen Hawking (2015 Reddit AMA)
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

i would say as a once-vegan FU to the cell-grown meat. but soylent green gave me nightmares as a kid, try falling asleep to that! i love science, don't get me wrong, but something is off by going down that path, almost as one more step in becoming more AI, and less human. So do we need a show that explores that? u betcha.

Not a vegan myself, but I suspect most vegans still wouldn't eat the stuff. Veganism doesn't just mean avoiding killing any animals. Cows and hens aren't killed to produce milk and eggs, both of which vegans avoid. So vegans would still avoid lab-cultivated meat since they were derived from actual animal cells.

Love how people are freaking out about meat grown in a lab without realizing their favorite billionaires have probably already invested a ton of money into the concept. There are always going to be innovations that start off as an unthinkably crazy idea

I would say no, you wouldn't be vegan. If the meat made is from the cells of animals, then I wouldn't consider it vegan. Vegans don't eat anything that COMES from animals so nahhh, it ain't vegan to me. Lol

Growing meat in a lab is creepy but stabbing defenseless animals in the throat, draining their blood, skinning them and chopping their bodies into pieces is not creepy at all.
Ok.

Came here from r/funny and just had to make sure that awkwardly worded title was real. Hope he thought his baby boy was delicious. Now he has to wait at least nine months to eat another one.

If you eat lab grown meat are you still a vegan? Yes. The answer is yes. If you're talking about an ethical vegan that is which should be the default when talking about vegans.
