Alan talks about his hit Amazon show Reacher, beating people up, meeting a very old fan, writing a letter to Tom Cruise about playing Jack Reacher, and being a contestant on American Idol. Alan Ritchson is criminally underrated. He's exactly what Jack Reacher supposed to be on screen, way better than Tom Cruise imo. Glad that he got the role of a lifetime. Dude is such a beast, a great action star and really likeable too. Healthy marriage with three kids, such a great guy

I read so many Reacher books when I was on deployment and had a picture of him in my head (along the lines of Dolph Lundgren. We had a giant Marine on my ship who looked the part, so my vision of the Reacher character was set in stone. I was so upset when I heard that Tom Cruise was playing him, but gave it a chance in theaters. Although Tom was a brilliant actor in the role, his frame just couldn't fill it, and I thought that the movies would have done better with another more accurate Reacher. Nobody could take small guy Cruise intimidating stone cold killers just from entering a room serious. Seeing Ritchson literally fill that role and blowing up the series like Reacher blows up bad guys fills my heart with joy, knowing that the audience who couldn't take the time to read the series can now see what I saw during those long nights on deployment. With all the things that go wrong in this world, seeing Alan Ritchson beating down small town bad guys while avoiding laundry makes everything seem right.

I have seen ads for this guy's show. I didn't know it was on yet, I kinda zone out. He seems like a good dude. But he wouldn't last long if he gave me trouble. There's a difference between choreography and experience. I hope he is careful and doesn't imagine he's actually capable in real altercation. Then again: Trump's about 80 talking smack, couldn't escape a wet paper bag without his bodyguards let's face it. He felt 'manly' bullying a tiny lady in a pants suit with cankles. I think the reference to the old lady with a walker reminded me of Hillary. A subliminal joke like what I'm referring to. Although some old folks with walkers hamming it up hoping a mugger might try it. So they have legal grounds to take that walker to their heads. Vent the frustration. I'm sure it's soothing.

Cruise did not have Reacher's physique, but the stoic, no nonsense, but still somewhat funny, extremely capable ex military attitude was right up his alley. The move from Hunt to Reacher really isn't that big.
And sure, Reachers shoulders like basketballs, abs like cobblestones etc. is there to make him feel more imposing. But I don't think Cruise was really out of place in the movies. He did more than well enough with what he was given.

He's right. I definitely rolled my eyes when I heard Tom Cruise got the role. I had been reading the books, and Reacher being this really big blonde guy is a pretty important part of the character, who tends to do a kind of Shane thing wherever he goes.

Never heard of Reacher until it was made by Tom and loved it. I reluctantly started watching the series thinking it will never be as good, I was wrong. I can t wait for season 2.

I'm so glad cuz of Alan. Despite his battle with b-polar depression, and almost taking his own life, his career is about to blow up at his early 40 its really amazing story.

I'm only 82, but I've been in love with Jack Reacher since I read the first book he was in. I've read all the books and watched ever episode of Reacher.

if in case there are more mission impossible movies after dead reckoning. He could be in it. a villain or a supporting role for ethan hunt.

I think of actors as actors, but they often got where they are with a lot of musical and dance talent, too. It's great to see that side of them.

Say what you want about Reacher season one, that last cgi tear they put on Alans face when he is supposed to cry was truly hilarious to see.

It was good to finally see Reacher with a personality (the TV series Reacher. First time I've seen this actor away from the series.

Not the beating up up guy, but Darn, Reacher, you are is a gorgeous man! Best actor for this role and please, play other movies too!

He's totally underrtated. He's a good storyteller and actually has great comedic timing. Been a fan since he was on Blue Mountain State.

Enjoy his acting on the show but it is such a shame he is crazy religious in real life. Straight jacket and a net kind of religious.

Love Alan Ritchson, love Reacher. I remember the first thing I saw him in was actually Brooklyn 99 as young Scully. RIP Andre Braugher.
