The whole tycoon-part of this game seems so shitty. I mean: noise pollution should just be replaced by air pollution at least, or in addition to it. The game seems to lack pretty basic knowledge of environmental issues in general. The whole main point with this DLC should have added the element that you have to pay more in the long run to keep on polluting (aka: making the best investments makes it the best in the long run, but instead they went with -being green has it's price for society-, even though the real issue with environmental policies is to make the things that are most sustainable for all of us: also must be a proper alternative for people to use. Like fixing traffic jams: investing in more buses= less road maintinance, higher life expectancy, better health, better time tables (so even more people takes the bus) and in the end it means it's cheaper in total to invest in buses. But the basic principles of environmental issues are just ignored? Instead being sustainable for the planet is some luxury thing rather than the only economical sound thing. But no, you only make yourself energy self-sufficient so you can pay less tax? No, that is not why renewable alternatives to get electricity was created.
The game could even be incorporated to the Natural Disasters DLC so it means that if you don't keep pollution low, you are in higher risk of natural disasters: AKA polluting is more costly in the end. But instead we got new shrubs to place. This DLC is an insult to our brains and our planet.

Man seeing all these expansion packs for this game really makes me want to pick it up (and all the other expansions. I have the base game but I've never gotten a city that far off the ground before quitting due to my general lack of city planning skills (get in the red within not too long of starting a city. The ability to create a city excites me a lot and reminds me fondly of trying to build the ideal castle as a kid in Stronghold. I guess I can wait for a sale to buy the expansions, but I really should play the base game again and see if I can make something work.
Also I really wish this company did a Sims style game. I bet they could come up with a beefy base for the game and make some pretty substantial expansions, and all of it would be a relatively good price I bet.

SOLARPUNK! eff yea -o-
Dude as a West-Coast dweller, THIS IS MY JAM! I'm super stoked since like, this is all technically possible, and it's cool for a Sci-Fi project.
It's also really important, IMO, with our EPA having been decimated, and climate change set to wreck us in just a few generations! We can already see it's tragic events like in Cali this year 3:
Also, I want to create two cities: A dystopia (that's literally in Hell, meteors and all, and a Utopia using this mod. I'm even thinking of starting Let's Plays, if I'm brave enough to conquer my social anxiety and follow my passions! New Years resolution, heh ---;

-. low density just looks grey and drab and kind-of samey. -
It's the way of the future, unfortunately. Town houses and even detached single-family houses are becoming so boring in aesthetic (where I live, anyway, which is Brisbane, Australia. The suburb I live in is currently being transformed from a lovely borderline-rural haven into a run-of-the-mill claustrophobic mess. And the only reason why anyone would want to live in the suburb is because it's affordable for young couples. The public transport sucks, it's distant from basically anywhere you'd want to go, and the aesthetic is becoming completely forgettable.

Hm. I'll probably not buy this then. I'd be too irritated at everything they got wrong. They seem to not have bothered to learn anything about sustainability, emission tech, renewables, etc. The cars are the stereotypical small cars, instead of the electrics and hybrids coming out the last five years that cost and look exactly the same as the sedan, estate, SUV, van etc fossil models.
I agree about the missing grass and same-looking (or at least same-color) villas. An oversight by the texturing guys I think.

I should really play this game. I only have the base game, I'm waiting for a big sale before I really buy any of the xpacks. Well that and I really need to actually learn how to play the game properly, because every time I try to play it I seem to go into the red very fast (I am new to city sims and am not very good at them.
Excellent video as always. I somehow missed this in my subs when it came out, glad to see it now though!

They should make it so that the player has to make personal course-altering decisions in the game. For example, the twitter thing will indicate that there is a war or famine going on in a nearby country, and the city can either accept or decline the refugees. And also, the city would need to find a place for these people if they do accept. Scenarios like this that really add complexity to the game.

Is there an option to build the Eco houses? I saw some neighborhoods we're the base residential housing and right next door was the Eco houses. Little things like that would make me mad if all houses were one style, at least this way you could have different looking neighborhoods without zoning districts. and why can't we make building historical? Something that grinds my gears, rant over.

I work in stormwater management, so this expansion pack gives me a hard-on. lol But I was disappointed that even though features like green roofs are included, the expansion doesn't actually let you manage the city's pollution in any special way: it's like, 95% cosmetic changes. What's the point? I guess most people aren't jazzed about isolating stormwater runoff, but still.

I just bought this expansion for Cities Skylines and the creators must have listened to you! My Green Homes have tons more -greenery- around them compared to your experience. Green Cities is totally worth it! It honestly bothered me that the base game did not recycle and I definitely like how my residents are no longer sucking in obscene amounts of water and electricity.
