FPS games with 6DoF movement, or Descent-likes, aren't everyone's cup of tea. But if you like your tea with tons of colored lights, drum and bass music, and ample '90s absurdity? Forsaken delivers

Played the remastered version lately, and it was cool.
One thing that bugged me a little bit in comparison to Descent and its successors was how quiet the enemy deaths were.
. 'cause, I dunno, when stuff explodes and it's not -loud, - some part of the gameplay feels a bit less satisfying.
If somebody somewhere somehow modded that version of the game to make the explosions noisier, I'd probably end up playing it a good deal more. :)
Also felt like I never had enough missiles or other secondary weapons, but I don't know how much of that feeling might have been down to me just playing the game the way I was already used to playing other games like it.
Oooh, and here's a little thing I found out. for those who are fans of the show, Dominic Glynn also worked on Doctor Who in the mid-80s.

favorite fps of all times. fast pace 360 6D multiplayer with amazing graphics, great arsenal and endless possibilities. it was a blast. every time. adrenaline rush to the max. true stereo sound, u could hear the vehicles approaching and always know how far they were. u would always be ready for anything but never knew what to expect. ud just hold your breath and go for it.
it was pure skill, intuition, challenge, courage and sometimes, madness. oh, and in 6D. endless ways to maneuver and dodge.
to date the most challenging fps ive seen.

Thanks for reviewing this. I was one of the artists working on the PC version. The only game I worked on where the whole team spent their lunch hour 'testing' the LAN multiplayer. We didn't really want the singleplayer mode. The multiplayer mode was more or less complete but management were adamant that that nobody would buy a multiplayer only game so the dev team was expanded and we bolted on a single player campaign which made the whole development period longer than it should have been. Then just before Forsaken was released, multiplayer-only Quake 3 come out and cleaned up.

Spot on with the box art -- I avoided the game because of it. (didn't seem like a factor then, but im gay and just didn't care. I would have totally dug on some sci-fi starship action.
I'd go to a place like EB or Walden's and just get a game purely based off the box. I couldn't just get on my smartphone and look each of them up. That's an experience that just doesn't happen anymore, like picking a movie out at the video rental place. There was a certain mystery behind it, and a sense of satisfaction when I found myself enjoying the game I chose. Good stuff.

I should one day try this game out.
I've always saw this game in stores as a kid but never picked it up. Whether on PC, PSX, or N64.
For me, the boxart looked like sometimes that would've been associated with the band Creed for me which made me keep away from it.
Should've just had boxart that matched the game as I might've actually played it growing up.

I kind of remember playing this a while after it came out and looking at it now and then firing up the original Descent. if it wasn't for the horrible resolution, I'd probably say that Descent looks better. It sure plays incredibly well. It just hurts looking at it: D
EDIT: Descent II definitly looks a good deal better: D but that may be a matter of personal taste

I have the N64 version of this game and loved it when I got it in college. However, I've never seen that intro before, as the N64 doesn't include it, for the reason of clearly not being able to run it. I might grab the PC version someday.
Edit: Ah, it's basically a completely different game than the PC version, that's why. Wow.

I played this on a Rendition Verite I got from Fry's. Then I decided to exchange it for an Nvidia Riva 128 ZX. I was able to upgrade my CPU from 120 Mhz to 200 Mhz with a bios upgrade on the Intel motherboard. I had 32 megs of ram. Too bad I didn't keep that PC. It was recycled. But I kept the Riva 128 ZX and of course. Forsaken.

I remember this game being added to a gaming magazine back in the day. I had zero info about what it was about, and picture of a hot redhead with desert background didn't tell me much. Unfortunately game refused to work, I don't even remember why now.
Got myself the remaster version though, time for some catching up!

I want to know more about the missing game.
Was it supposed to come with a physical copy? Was that a packaging slipup at the factory? Was there somebody on ebay who just couldn't part with the disc but was okay with ditching everything else, including the box and all of the inserts?
What is the story here?
