The dynamic leveling system, ugh. My first playthrough (X360) had no issues with this, but on my second (PC) I neglected combat to the point that athletics, acrobatics, security, sneak, and speechcraft were high, but my combat was low. About 2 hours or so after the tutorial, I couldn't kill anything. Even basic enemies on the world would have their bars move at less than a pixel per hit. I had to cheat to make it playable again.
Also couldn't really get a handle of manipulating what went up upon resting.

The class creation in Oblivion is amazing. I have only just picked up Oblivion, through PS Now, and despite horrific streaming quality, I'm enthralled. I have created a class named, 'Aetherblade', a nimble shortsword wielding build that harnesses the magic of destruction and mysticism. My character feels like a supernatural being, and it's immensely satisfying.
I'm honestly dumbfounded as to why they removed to the class creation from Skyrim, it's one of the best features of Oblivion.

The oblivion on my PC in 2006 was a radeon 9550 overclocked from 250mhz to 550mhz and men from 100mhz to 148mhz would get artifacts at 150mhz, Pentium D 1. 2ghz overclocked to 1. 37hz and 512mb of ram with all ingame settings set to lowest possible, couldn't see very far Infront of my face but finished the whole game and all sidequests like this. Also all of FEAR but uh yeah similar thing game would lockup before every jump scare and no shadows so it wasn't exactly scary lolll

I liked Oblivion at the time it came out, but I would argue it aged worse than morrowind in many aspects, and playing Fallout made the game very stale. Also, Patrick Stewart deserved a better role, hes nearly forgettable. These flaws and more make it the weakest non-DOS game. However, it is the first elder scrolls game I played, and it did a few things right, such as fast travel and better navigation.

I tried playing this as a REALLY little kid (kindergarten) and loved riding horses but otherwise was confused about what to do. I probably would have figured it out with more time, but we were only allowed to use technology for an hour a day and we had the game on loan from my dad's friend. However, I am replaying it now for the first time since and am so excited about it.

Yeah I remember stepping out of cell and seeing the butterly. Never saw other one again in the game - maybe I'm blind.
It's a great game tho. When I was kid in 2006-7 it was very popular. I saw my friend play it on grandma's pc. He would be chased by ghost which would fallow him outside the building. When i saw that i imediately wanted to play the game myself.

Wood Elves made of wood
Dark Elves made of soot
High Elves made of skooma but,
Nevermind that check the loot
Imperials has their tongue
All Bretons got it wrong
When a Khajit comes along
Give moon sugar to keep him cold
Redguards are red
Orcs are green
Drinking Dagoth Brandy makes you
As beautiful as Argonian queen

I don't know that the pleasant scenery is so much a credit to the Gamebryo/Creation engine than to the art team. Bethesda's biggest strengths are it's art with a special mention for the music, and the world-building. I would argue these games would have been much more amazing if done on a slightly customized version of the Unreal Engine.

Probably my favorite game of all time. My introduction to TES and a game I sank countless hours into between 2006-2011 until Skyrim came out. I put some time into Skryim but now I had become -that nerd- complaining about how the game was -dumbed down- and it quickly lost my interest.

I still remember the genuine terror and unease I felt when I first entered an Oblivion gate. I was so freaked out, I put off doing that first gate for ages- when I returned, the game had scaled with my level, and there dinosaurs, which all jump scared the hell out of me lmao.
