I knew most of this from the documentarys on my Jaws Blu-Ray, but the Oscar snub as well as Spielbergs musings on a sequel were interesting.
I did see a little online speculation on what if Spielberg had decided to remaster Jaws like he did with E. T. for its Blu-Ray release, basically digitally superimposing Bruce into a realistic looking massive lethal shark as opposed to his robotic self from the film.
Im glad thats not under consideration though.

There is a story of the first film death with skinny dipper Christine/Carrie ware the actress had on a hidden belt underwater that had four ropes attached. so that divers could pull her about as if a shark was biting her. The radio signals got crossed and she broke two ribs. If true. a great story of heroinism that she got the scary scene done. Wow.

Here's one for you. The woman swimmer attacked by the shark at the beginning of the movie went on to be accosted by a much bigger fish.
At the beginning of the movie 1942, the same woman is again swimming al naturaal in the ocean when she's attacked by the Japanese submarine lurking off the California coast.

To be fair of Speilbergs complaint of being snubbed, that movie nearly killed his career and for it to not only be a financial success but also have rave reviews to the point of being called a great thriller one would feel like all that hard work and risk should be paid off from that.

Show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I want to go to bed
I had a little drink about an hour ago, and it went right to my head
Wherever I may roam
on land or sea of foe
you can always see me singing the song, Show me the way to go home.

there was a Jaws 2, 3D, and a fourth one called Jaws: The Revenge (I've seen all except that last one) so you're wrong in saying that Jaws didn't get a sequel, it got 3. (I know there might've been a different director but you said No sequel for Jaws)

I wouldnt say he was a sore loser but mainly because how everyone loved the film and the struggles they endured on set would have at least made him optimistic about an Oscar nomination and want at least the nomination
