Why People Stopped Watching The Walking Dead Delilah: The gore was already bad, especially for those like myself who arent into that, but it had a decent storyline.
When Negan killed Glenn off and in the manner they chose, that did it for me. To watch a zombie killing someone is one thing, but to see another human murdering other humans the way Negan killed them was unacceptable to me. I felt that entire scene was overkill! Truly. The scene was so violent, so prolonged, and so in your face. Jeffrey Dean missed his calling. He should have portrayed Ted Bundy welding the bad that so viciously murdered those co-Eds. It was sickening and turned too dark for my taste.
I never liked Michonnes character and while I loved Carols character, I quickly became tired of her bad ass attitude.
The show was becoming more about rival clans than people pulling together to survive. I understand that there would naturally be rogue humans who would steal and kill, but this was more than I cared for. I especially hated the freaks who lived in the damn dump. Seriously? The punk hair, chains, etc, was too Mad Max. in a bad way.
The story just had so many legs that it couldnt support itself. It lost all believability. Just another junk show.

The pacing of the show was always going to be off because of the amount of time passing between seasons compared to the comic book. They would have had to film the first seven or eight seasons in less than two years, and would have ran out of script before they finished production. So they drew events out and made decisions on pacing that many people have not agreed with.
Between that and the attrition of actors over the course of a decade the show has had a hard time keeping a coherent plot that people care about.
Sophia and Carol are a perfect example of this. The little girl said she didn't know if she wanted to keep acting, so they killed her off. People became so attached to Carol, in part due to the above decision, that having her go nuts and make out with a corpse made little sense.
Now you have Carl's eventual wife, and a child Rick helped raise like his own, dead. While the nut job mother has to be shoe horned into a story that never featured her past the prison, and so you kill off Ricks love interest from the comic to have a character arch for Carol. See how this keeps spiraling because a child decided they did not want to act?

It seems like everyone's butthurt that show decided to kill off their beloved characters, I get that, but I'm honestly fed up of all the other shows and movies where main heroes miracously survive and get away from dying just because they're main characters. It gets boring, and this is why I stand behind the show even now. because writers have balls to pull that off. As when it comes to show being more about people fighting rather than surviving zombie attacks. this is what is supposed to happen. They're living in a post-apocalyptic world. It's all about survival. Fighting zombies was never a main priority, it was SURVIVING. Not everyone can agree on every decision, so it happens that there are lunatics running around, and obviously same lunatics present a threat which has to be dealt with. Is everyone seriously expecting for whole show to be about surviving the zombies, but everyone is cool with everyone. Wars are inevitable because assholes exist in their world too.

I know they said the show wasn't gonna follow the comic series, but they contradicted themselves a bit, because it really started to for such a long time. For me, them killing Carl didn't make sense because he was the future of the show. Idk if the actor was leaving the show anyways or not, but according to the Comic Carl was supposed to outlive everyone and give the series its future Rick Grimes type of character.
It was a self-inflicted room. I will admit, I stopped watching before they killed off Carl and then I tuned im every now and then. I didn't tune into anything passed the Whisperer arc and for much of that whole arc. It was a great show, but at some point it seemed like it was losing the aspects of it that really drew people in. Maybe that's just the short term attention span that we human beings have that plays apart in that, but it just want bringing much to make you want to watch it anymore. Just my opinion tho

I was not the target demographic for the show when I started watching it, I was very young. Probably to young to watch it but I enjoyed it, but the zombies wasn't what I enjoyed about it. I enjoyed the family that the group had formed, it was my favorite show up until glenn died and that's when I stopped watching. After killing off my favorite character I was a little butt hurt. As the show has progressed I've kept up on the basic plot, and from what I can tell, it's not the same show that I enjoyed when it first began. While I might come back to it in the future, I probably wont until it ends. I have no ties to the show anymore, the only character I really like that's still alive is Daryl, and his character arc hasn't been what I wanted so far. I just wish the show had played out differently.

Just got boring. They clearly couldn't be bothered shooting on location anymore. And the meaningful silences and repeated cliches just got too much. Its unrealistic depiction of humans too, they don't stay sulky and miserable for a decade. No music, no fun for six years? People in the midst of modern wars have a better way of life. The lack of gear/equipment is irritating too, its the USA ffs. Are you trying to tell me they can't set up a modern self sufficent community, there are hundreds if not thousands of them across the country already. Its like breaking bad in that its an excellent depiction of what would happen if there were only Californian middle class people in the world. Just one working class person with a brain would be nice.

Ratings started declining after reaching its peak in season 5
The ratings in season 5 were at their highest and lowest because the show teased Washington DC and finding a cure. Most of my friends and people I talked to at work thought the end was near because of that plot, they thought the group would find a cure and etc but once the group found out Eugene was a liar and they got to Alexandria, a lot of people quit watching, they started to see a routine, the group faces a villain, finds a new home, a few characters die and etc etc
Not to mention the most interesting story of season 5 (Gareth and the cannibals) was cut really short. The quick death of the terminus group also didnt help walking dead

No! It was all personal problems not producers well Chandler it was his dad that had made the choice not him

I stopped watching after season 7 (Glenns death) I really fell out of love with it after they killed off so many amazing main characters. I have dipped in and out with it knowing Carl dies too which just annoys me even more. I found the whole reason behind the show was Rick, his family and his friends he meets on the way finding their way through this nightmare. However after the main characters dying while the new characters taking the shine it just didnt feel investable anymore. Plus I will never get over them killing Glenn. Ughhhhhhh

wow just me that feels like this video explain exactly why I like the show, ofc it's not about surviving the zombies, even the comics goes that way, zombies just want to eat, humans in the other hand want power, control and riches (which would be food and resources in TWD) that's why I think it's great, it's always complicated to have a story lingering for as long as TWD has been but in my opinion it's f great and the death of loved characters it shows that plot armor isn't strong in this show
