From the trailers I've seen so far, I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that this turns out to be a good movie. My one reservation, however, was seeing who they had cast to play Han Solo, because he really doesn't look the part. Now I find out that they had to hire an acting coach to help this guy with his role? Seriously? Like watching Harrison Ford for four movies wasn't enough for him to get a grip on who Han Solo is? Why did they hire him in the first place then?

Theres much more to Star Wars than just the movies a lot you commenting on dont seem to get that why let one movie ruin it for you because of movie executives or directors etc theres books comics even entirely different eras of the Star Wars history so with that Im not letting this one movie draw hatred for the entire thing if anything it just adds more to the universe and possibilities that can happen in the future

Besides the fact that the lack of success forces the franchise to risk more than their competences can cover, Han Solo is a type of criminal the modern age does no longer welcome at all, even as a fictional rogue. Last night I read Punk 1974 Beep the system! turned into Punk 2014 Be the system, and chuckled. But it is OK to leave that to the mob of new fans, they know & deserve nothing better, or so it seems.

Face facts people the origional cast is too old to keep doing Star Wars. I'm excited to see Han Solo getting his own film. Remember it's a CHARACTER not a person. People thought Chris Evans wouldn't be good as Captain America because he played Human Torch and they were wrong. Looking forward to maybe seeing a spinoff of events before force awakens with the new Solo and a few others like Luke post ROTJ!

Y'all need to stop being all butt-hurt about the Disney Star Wars's. Just because it took some liberties and did something different, y'all are hating on it. Star Wars can't be the same for you guys, but if it's different, everybody freaks out. Why can't Star Wars fans try to see where these new movies are going, and stop getting upset that they didn't just remake Empire?

Referencing a book like splinter of the minds eye is bad. This was the only book that was taken out of the chronology as it has Luke and Leia getting a little too close for brother and sister. Plus it takes place between episode 4 and 5 so any character would and should be much younger by the aforementioned 10+ years as would fit otherwise it's just a poor Easter egg.

you know what a franchise is? it's a shitty idea that has been sold off to someone else to emulate so the original person can make money off of it. And that pretty much sums up star wars. Originally it was about expressive film making but now it's about pumping out mediocre shit for the masses to lap up. It's like looking at a pale reflection of what it was once.

And in the Last Shot novel, we learn that L3 is both a. What? The? Hell? They still think that a movie characters persona can be explained OUTSIDE of the movie itself? If you don't somehow SHOW their character IN THE MOVIE, they DON'T HAVE A CHARACTER.
This movie is most likely just another souless peace of merchandice set in the Star Wars universe.

Why, oh, why name a character Qi'ra? Like that doesn't immediately remind fans of Major Kira from DS9? Kira is a great name, a great character. So don't step on that and name a Star Wars character Qi'ra. They should have saved themselves a big headache and chosen a different name. She might be a fantastic new character, but that name choice was not smart.
