HOWARD CUNNINGHAM: In the 1972 Happy Days pilot (an episode of the anthology series, Love: American Style, Howard Cunningham was played by Harold Gould, not Tom Bosley. Gould would go on to play Valerie Harper's father in Rhoda.
ADAM SCHIFF: In Everybody's Favorite Bagman, the 1988 pilot of Law & Order, District Attorney Adam Schiff was played by Roy Thinnes, not Stephen Hill. The pilot first aired as part of Season 1 of Law & Order on October 30, 1990.

Originally the T. V. show Alf was to star Garry Coleman, in a specially designed suit, it was to be his come back after leaving Different Strokes almost a decade before. By the time the pilot for Alf was being shot Coleman was working nights as a security guard on a used car lot, and he would turn up to work late, cursing out the producers and generally being incredulous as to the existence of extraterrestrial life, especially so-called wisecracking life with all over Cheetos orange colored body hair. He was recored, during breaks in shooting, saying: Say, wha? Motherfoes got me dressed like some Golden Retriever saying shet like: Girl ya wanta gets cheesy with me? And I is sweatin like a motherfoe at airport control with three pounds of crack up he assh. So production thought it best to go with a puppet once the series aired.

The positions Cpt. Kirk, Spock and Doctor McCoy became, were all completely different in the original pilot that saw Gene Roddenberry's wife as 2nd in command, completely unheard of, and she was moved to typical female role of Nurse and voiced of The Enterprise forever. Spock actually retained his whole character, but from science officer added on 2nd in Command, while Kirk and McCoy were completely new actors, and original two in the actual original pilot would later be seen in the menagerie episodes, as Cpt Pike and Doctor, even though they were meant to be what Kirk and McCoy became.

You missed maybe the biggest one of all. Templeton Faceman Peck, the role made famous by original Battlestar Galactica alum Dirk Benedict. A-Team creators Stephen J. Cannell and Frank Lupo wanted Benedict from the start. Network execs wanted actor Tim Dunigon to play the iconic role. However, after the pilot was aired, those same execs thought that their choice looked too young to play a Vietnam Veteran. And the rest is TV history.

In Desperate Housewives, Mary Alice Young was originally played by Sheryl Lee in the unaired pilot episode. But Marc Cherry and the production team decided she was not right for the part, and cast Brenda Strong instead, because she would bring something different to the character. So they shot the Mary Alice scenes with Brenda Strong, and decided they would keep her for the role.

George Morgan played Father Mulcahy in Pilot episode of MASH. He was replaced with William Christopher. Morgan's only appearance was at the party at the end of the episode. Which had Mulcahy winning the lottery for a weekend in Tokyo with a nurse.

The character DJ was played by Sal Barone in the Roseanne pilot. He was canned because he was a brat and didn't get along with Sara Gilbert. The part went to Michael Fishman who later went on to throw Roseanne Barr under the bus.

I watched this specifically to see if they put Shatner as the recasting for Kirk. nope. fail! Star Trek has had a far more reaching generational affect on tv and movie history than any of the other shows in this video including GoT

The pilot of Star Trek originally did not feature William Shattner as the Captain. Najel Barrett's role was also downgraded from Number One to Nurse Chapel I seem to recall Kate Mulgrew was the second pick for Star Trek Voyager.
