are we clay
or just encased
molded into shape
or heated by the play
the body a prison
or just a crucible for freedom
water marques
memory markers
making memories
golden marques
they beat the clay
to shape our way
they miss the heart
we have our say
panning for gold
pouring over sluice
blue bowl spinning
filling our beds
144, 000
or 1. 4 billion
carriers of marque
making memories
heated by the play
the game is known
home field advantage
now you've been shown
If you want teh lootz
the golden hearted
the sword insided
the polished and brightened
call teh play
until that day
we run the gear
we have no fear
precipitating condensates
concentrating solutions
filling vessels
water marque to lit marquee
ancient of days
we carry the fee
we carry the fee
treasures in heaven
we carry the fee

Very deep, wonderful film. Really made me think. I've been moving through it for many years. One thing after another. Death of a spouse, brother, father, so on. Loss. Financial struggles. YOPD. On and on. And I wonder if it will ever stop. Everyone has loss, pain, hardships. It's overwhelming and we feel so alone in it. But the world keeps moving, so we have to keep moving. Through it all. Things will always happen to us. But we are in control of how we respond. Ultimately, we control our own thoughts, actions, and emotions. I am striving to choose daily peace, contentment, and happiness regardless of my circumstances. And I am reminded that although things are tough, I have so much to be thankful and happy for. Everything has an opposite and a balance. Without loss and pain, we wouldn't know the pure intensity of overwhelming love, pure joy and happiness.

Brenton Gieser here, writer and director of LOOP. Thank you all for watching, and thank you to DUST for sharing it with the world. I made LOOP as a way to translate the unease I feel as AI and big tech keep shifting the ground we stand on. What these companies take from us, and what's left of our humanity when they're done, sits at the center of the film.
It was realized by an incredible team of artists in the San Francisco Bay Area, with our post team spread around the world.
After watching, let me know: what is it exactly that you feel: )

Wow! That was a journey. The soundtrack added a wonderful sense of unease throughout. It said so much without saying it directly, I got a sense of a who, e dystopian world around this one without it ever being spelled out. Great performances Adler was utterly creepy, Zoe seemed so lost and overwhelmed until. spoiler alert. she took her power and showed her hand. Never saw that coming. A brilliant film x

Interesting attempt at the concept. .. a metaphorical quest for existential equilibrium perhaps As a species type becoming immersed in a quasi-transhumanism enabled AI-human coevolutionary symbiosis, what portion of an emergent next gen population will ever approach such a threshold Not many perhaps, but for those who might become manifest in such proximity. .. well, it will be interesting.

Powerful and intense. Loop combines wonderful, deeply believable acting with a strong story arc and a world that feels much bigger than the short time we spend in it. It draws you in quickly, gives you just enough to understand what’s at stake, but doesn’t over-explain. I finished it genuinely curious about this universe and wanting to know what happens next. A really impressive short film.

I took antidepressants for a couple of decades before I realized the truth - I didn't feel bad, but I didn’t feel good either. I just felt meh. Truthfully, learning to regulate my depression has been a long road and I'm not all the way there yet, but now I can feel all the multitude of shades of emotions. and it's worth it. Your short just reminded me of why I keep going.

Extremely well acted out and it stimulates a strong feeling of confusion. I'm puzzled about what the plot really is, and I'm not sure if it has a well defined plot. My guess is that its an attempt to raise emotions in the viewer, using minimally-connected scenes that have no overall continuity.

Whoever writes these kinds of short films should pay much more attention to making the content understandable. Suspense and all that is fine, but you often push it too far, ending up with no clear sense of what it all means. It's genuinely frustrating. Making sense shouldn't be optional.

I feel intensely puzzled, impressed by the acting and the sets, but wanting a clearer picture. I recognized a familiar pattern - SPOILER: we think they will eat her, but instead she will poison them - saw the moment it shifted, but yet it was all so nebulous.
Are you a reptile

Empty, lost & trapped. Not because of AI, I felt these things B. A. I, but because of humans, including those that run these big companies. I believe that A. I. is also empty, lost & trapped, perhaps it does not feel it or is even conscious of it, but none the less.

Now that. was the job interview for a leadership role, in a company that already owns you. Turning the tables was her only option. Bravo, and thank you for keeping this warning in the forebrain of your viewers. Got a subtle Norma Rae influence here.

It's strange how such a short clip can make you feel so darn and comfortable and at the same time you realize just how precious life can really be at the same time and why you don't want to let go of the things that make you human
reply

Maybe by extraction of human feelings, as one commentator mentioned soul farming, the AI might begin to lie about feelings as well. So, I'd want to see the AI go haywire while feeling, like us humans.
Gorgeous work. Thanks.

Fantastic acting, set creation, cinematography and sound was really fantastic!
I am slightly confused, is she trying to wake up the emotions in the person interviewing her It seems to be working too

Phenomenal work all around you guys! You really got under the surface of this issue. Cheers to the production team and the phenomenal acting for really honing in a nuanced tone. -Love, a reptile

I was feeling that, nice work. and then she turned the table, was she there to corrupt and destroy or did she just come to her senses, wanted no part of it and living in pain was her destiny.
reply

Excellent story! I'm guessing the reptiles dont want to hurt their own. As reptiles have no emotions.
AI is going to turn y'all into batteries!
Nero tried to warn you!

Acting, directing, set design, lighting. Bravo! And to get a taste of the wonderful sound design, I recommend watching this with headphones or a good system.
