8000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Regarding female characters, I am assuming 8000 years ago will deal with the first men and then interactions with the Children of the Forest, giants etc. If they are looking to make female characters more badass and not second-class citizens, they've picked a pretty good area to play with. Remember, the Wildlings/Free Folk are closer to the First Men than anyone, in terms of tradition and culture. They treated women much the same as men. We'll probably get a lot more Ygritte's in this prequel show.

Did people really expect them to just pop out 5 other spin offs? Firstly, they have to see if Game of Thrones fans WANT a spin off series, based on averages and not anyone specifically. If ratings prove good, then they may greenlight another project- if not, then this is what we're left with. They aren't going to make 5 shows and hope for the best. Hell the first spin of series could flop, you never know, hence why big business like HBO won't risk millions based on expectations alone.

There gonna ruin it, it's annoying how nowadays critics are always talking about strong female characters! Or stop punishing females, like GOT didn't cut off a Man's Penis, or Poison a Man, Or cut off a Man's Head, ect! So they only wanna see Men being punished and Women are immuned to the Harshness of the series. So does the Critics wanna ruin GOT like Disney did StarWars and so many other Sci fi movies with there Strong Female lead characters! Like I said, they gonna ruin it

I can predict the future. HBO and the writers will force Gender and Racial diversity witch would be fine except for the fact that they'll think this alone will make the series good. This will then in turn lead to bad story telling and directing. It'll be a relatively good hit the first year, but by the 3rd year it'll be a flop. Someone will call a bunch of nerds Racists for not supporting a mixed female cast. Then the nerds will blame story telling.

Much as I hate to say it, I'm fairly sure the spin-offs aren't going to be well-recieved. Most people will watch it and expect it to be on the same quality and scale as Game of Thrones. They're going to miss the character, the actors and perhaps the story. This isn't to say it won't be good, but this is most often the case with spin-offs. Here's hoping they pull it off.

Stop punishing its female characters so. stop making it game of thrones, thats one of its main themes, no character is safe from any amount of punishment, regardless of gender, i could understand the complaints if it was portraying these things in a positive light but they don't, it shows them committed by the monstrous side if humanity, its not a fairy tale

The very fact that they need to make Strong female characters rather than just making great characters, shows me that they are already sacrificing story to pander to the screeching feminist harpies.
No thanks, I think i'll be sitting out everything Hollywood makes until they realize that story is more important than forcing a political narrative on others.

Game of Thrones has some of the best female roles Ive seen in TV or movies.
I could give a crap about female roles as a feminist interpretation!
The women in Game of Thrones who are humiliated and punished deserved it according to how their character played out!

Game of thrones doesn't have a male lead. the whole point is there is no real main character. I suppose there is Azor Ahai, but the whole point every season so far is that none of the characters are safe main characters. Any of them can die, it's a show about many people and their stories. The main characters are the families not a single person.
