Why We Never Got To See How I Met Your Dad Miguel: Reading plenty of angry opinions on the shows ending in this comment section, I just wanted to say that although initially I didnt like it either, as I rewatched it it grew on me because I started to understand why they made it that way. It was a statement on how sometimes the love of your life and your soulmate might not necessarily be the same person. Whereas your soulmate is the person whos perfect for you in virtually every single aspect, the love of your life is more of a person whos left such an indelible mark on your heart that you ended up giving a part of yourself away when you fell in love with them. And although you might have eventually met your soulmate and become so deeply infatuated with them that that mark almost seems to have vanished or become unimportant, the truth is you really never forget them. They were your first real passion. The first person you really fell in love with before meeting your soulmate. And upon losing your soulmate to a precocious death, its only natural and logical you try and get together with the only person who can even begin to compare to that kind of love, that is, the love of your life. And even if you never lose your soulmate, the love of your life will always be a sweet memory in your heart, a nostalgic feeling about how it feels to fall in love for the first time, and although you know youd never give up your soulmate for them, theyll always have a special place in your heart. Hope that helps other big HIMYM fans like me better understand the shows ending, even if you retain the opinion that you didnt like it: )

Let's face it, when they first came up with the HIMYF idea, HIMYM was at its peak. Then the quality started to decline, and it affected negatively the need for a spinoff/sibling series. Sure, HIMYM was fresh, and entertaining at first, the first three or four seasons were great, but after that. I don't talk about just the series finale (which was a good idea on paper, too bad they ventured so far from the whole Ted gets back to Robin thing, it didn't make any sense when it came to it) I talk about all the unnecessary drama, the stale jokes, the way they made Ted, Marshall and Lilly less and less bearable with every single episode, the way they ruined Robin's character in a nonsense way with those last two episodes. Just thinking about they would make a similar series with a flipped gender cast. Makes no sense. While it was Barney's series from the beginning, from around midway of the series, without him, it would've been an immediate cancel, as three of the remaining four characters were absolutely pathetic dipshits. At the end with few exceptions, who stayed watched it for Barney.

it take lot work but i think have something here. i forget how mom end up being. if robbing then no would work. but girl he going marry and didn't. she had group friends that haven't seen. and episode with mape were he try avoid her showed. there lot shows were see cast of how meet your mother in back ground. if crazy show. then be like why that guy were a pirate out fite at bar? or why that group eat lunch under table at restraint. or why that guy were same hang check costume every year to costume party. every one been different costume but that guy. isn't that news lady stuck inside claw machine? it most normal days with all not so normal stuff happen in back ground.

How I met your father would have been a great idea. Besides all the things you mentioned I think another problem would have been the actors who portrayed Ted's kids. They were too old by the end of the series. Oh and let's not forget that the finale destroyed the whole relationship between Ted and his wife.
Ted: 'And then your mother died in this light, nice looking hospital. I didn' t even suffer for that long because. Oh look there is Robin. There were 9 seasons to prove that me and aunt Robin are not meant do be but who cares? I am going to act like your mother was just one of those other chick's before I finally got my dream girl: ROBIN'

Another reason is surely the huge fan backlash from the last episode! It ruined the whole series and I already disliked ted but I downright hated him after he essentially used the mother as a baby making machine and then went to Robyn even though it doesnt work between them and she is meant to be with Barney! They killed their own show when they killed the mother! Thank god for the alternate ending but still! Thats why there is no spin off! We are still not over it! Also barney was the reason we watched it!

The way to wrap the series up would have been a movie length episode of how i met your dad. That's it no more. Imagine the juxtaposition when after an hour and a half of screen time the kids are like, wait that's it?
and the moms like
well yeah, we met as soon as we knew each other, there wasn't much anticipation.
Then Ted comes in and starts correcting her and it just kind of fades out my man.

I would say, because they ended himym terribly, that's why it didn't make it ultimately. I remember watching the last episode, and even though i had the entire series, I literally deleted it all from how pissed I was (drama queen much. When I read that they wanted to make himyf, I said I'm not wasting my time on another series that will end in such a silly way, probably.

The whole reason the show was never made was that they decided to cast a whole new group of people instead of following Christina Milioti (as Tracy) and profiling her life before she met Ted. How Your Mother Met Me in season 9 was one of the best episodes in the whole series, and should have been what the execs showed the network as a pitch for the spinoff.

how i met your mother is mediocre at best. i think they are so successful is because this generation needed a new friends and they had pretty strong supporting star power.
everyone of the main cast was in a movie or featured in a successful box office movie except the protagonist ironically.
i only watched the show a little because of Jason Segel

The video touched on an important item: Are fans in love with the format, or the characters? Copying the format would, IMHO, not really be wise. I watched for the characters, and when I heard about the spinoff, I was thinking it would involve the actress that portrayed the mother. Seeing that it wouldn't, why bother?
