My theory is rock solid with Crossbones in Endgame. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever tying Crossbones to an Infinity Stone. Here is my theory.
I have a theory about the time travel aspect. There will be no time travel whatsoever in terms of the progression of the film. The only time travel aspect of the film will be the final battle against Thanos as avengers are fighting Thanos slips into each Marvel movie in the past with the avengers fighting along him. in each scene the original characters of that movie react to seeing themselves fighting this huge purple dude ripping into time streams. Sort of the same ending to Wes Cravens Shocker.
Think about it. Marvel loves to celebrate itself and give fan service. so why not a drop down dragged out street fight between everyone hopping into different parts of different Marvel movies as a spectacular finish to 22 amazing movies.

PLOT LEAK. MAYBE. Scarlet Witch is in the soul stone. in the Infinity Gauntlet and begins possessing it! Taking the role of Mephisto! She is going insane and triggers a House of M event. Tony dies everyone finds out but returns and detonates like a bomb destroying avengers facility. The Captain Marvel movie ends with scene from comic con 2016 I think of the Kree ship attacking moments after Thanos snap. Not a real one but one created by the Scarlet Witch. She also brings Quick Silver back to life and causes so much chaos SHE IS THE NEW VILLAIN. Not even Thanos can stop her as he becomes her psychic puppet. Turns out this was her plan for revenge on the Avengers the whole time. Doctor Strange knew this and has to battle her from within the Soul Stone.

Wait - Captain America might be reunited with Peggy Carter? Could it end that he travels back in time using the Infinity Gauntlet and thus remains alive and is fulfilled, but is effectively retired? Once Thanos is defeated (supposing things turn out well, the Avengers should have ultimate power over the properties the Infinity Stones influence, which means they can really sort things out any way they like, right? Seems like an ultimate escape route for the writers, though.

If anyone thinks for one second that when RDJ or CE step away from being Ironman and Captian America that it will be the end for either of those two superheroes your wrong. No way that Marvel and Disney will say goodbye permanently to either of those two cash machines. No, those two characters make Marvel and Disney a crapload of money so they will just reboot those franchises with new actors. Mark my words, they aren't going anywhere.

So Cap knows hes going to have to sacrifice himself, so he uses whatever time tech they have to go back to Peggy at hear peak and finally have that dance. Peggy is the perfect woman to know the secret that Cap travelled in time and not allow it to effect the future at all, so this will be their real goodbye from the 40s

So if these heroes come back to life. what happens. the entire timeline will be in a mess. what's happened has happened. if they mess with time the heroes and villains will live in a parallel universe. so I think the whole thing might be problematic.

Captain America wont die. what if he stays in the past to be with Peggy Carter. Chris Evans could still do cameos and maybe appear in Agent Carter. Or it would allow them to hire a new actor altogether to blend in with the clothing of the era
