The CG is only a small portion of my outrage. Will Smith can't act. He doesn't bring anything to the role. He is trying to act hip and cool but he is old and way way far out of the realm of knowing what cool even is anymore. He is the same as he was in fresh prince. That was awesome back then but he is past his prime. Next, in the march scene announcing Prince Ali, his voice is so autotuned and cleaned up that it has no style. Then he adds in his little unhip rifs like boy genuflect It's just bad. Also from the parts I have seen he took waaaay too many liberties with the script. I will never like his take on the genie he needs to just stop trying to act. Just terrible.

I find the animation lacking, and by animation I mean the way the genie moves. Underwhelming would be good word. Gesture left, gesture right, float forward, spread arms. The animated genie was engaging to watch because of the range of expressive motion the animators could afford him. I don't know if this genie is CGI or motion capture, if it's mo-cap that'd explain the lackluster movement, but even so. this preview is underwhelming. He's just a buff blue guy, who's just there. The uncanny valley is an aspect as well, but I don't find myself horrified quite so much as disappointed.

for everyone who fears this movie will turn out to be garbage my best advice is why don't we just look at this in a more humorous way like with Batman and Robin. Sure the movie wasn't that good but everytime someone emotions it you just can't help but laugh at everything that made it so hilariously bad with all the bat nipples and ice puns. We can do the same with this new Aladdin film so instead of calling it a cinematic abomination and saying it ruined your childhood why don't you just except the fact this movie exists and not waste your life giving harsh criticism

Didn't give a damn and the whole cast is more than unimpressive in representing live action versions of the Disney cartoon version of Aladdin. Jafar, Aladdin, Jasmin and massively-bad-VFX-Genie: S Gosh I hope Mulan gets a much better treatment than this. (also that it will adhere to its original feminist message and not adher to 3rd wave bullcrap: S cause it was absolutely great)
Edit: Yup nevermind, they actually managed to screw the Mulan movie before actually revelaing images of it: S

He didnt have to find his own lane to make the character his. It probably would have looked better if he followed in Robin Williams footsteps as a tribute to such a great actor. Especially because I dont think I will be able to watch the live action version without comparing the original and finding it lacking without him. I do like Will Smith and I like a lot of his movies, but looking at the trailers, I just think its not going to be that good.

When I saw Will being the genie I thought that was amazing! I really don't know why some people feel the need to dislike are hate someone one because they did not like that good or is a bad choice, I thought Will looked great being the genie and he act even better he made the movie so funny and entertaining I don't understand why people are so quick to hate or judge someone or something at first sight, standards have got down hill

He also thought to secure this role he'd do what he did to be the Fresh Prince so he tried method acting he reached for their lamps and started rubbing until he saw something shoot out all the while they were talking genie colours and he knew the part was his when they had blue all for him. I don't mind the way that he looked I don't know why people are so angry about that I'm more upset about the acting I don't want to see French Prince of Bel-Air I want to see the genie and I wish Will Smith could have asked and talked better to play that a better role. I'm gonna be totally honest I was a bit freaked out when I first saw him. But now I think he looks kind of cool. I also honestly think he's a good casting choice for the Genie. Obviously it won't match Robin Williams, but the Fresh Prince angle he has on it I think is a good call. But most of all, he's a funny guy and he can play a funny character. So Will Smith will be an awesome Genie!
