New Last Blood Photos Reveal Rambo's Backstory

In the first movie he was a barely-literate grunt who happened to be extremely gifted at survival and soldiering. This was why he struggled so badly to fit in when he came home. Because he had found his niche in the war-torn country of Vietnam. He found brotherhood, he found peace of a sort (for his mind at least, and he found a sense of purpose, something he was actually good at and enjoyed doing (mainly because he WAS good at it.
But he was pretty dumb. Apart from being the best at surviving off the land, guerrilla warfare, military tactics, self-defense and so on, he was just a bit simple-minded.
In R4 we see a completely different character, offering his worldly wisdom to people who come just asking for a boat ride. Sure, a lot of his wisdom is about the nature of man in war-torn places, but he just comes across as some Obi Wan Kenobi type, living alone for years, garnering knowledge like some kind of wise old buddha or something.
That was my worst complaint about that movie. Once the action actually got started it was great, but hearing him prattle on like a completely different character to the one we had known in the beginning was just silly, in my opinion, and kind of ruined the first hour or so of the movie for me.
As for R5; they just shouldn't be making it at all.
To be honest, they shouldn't have made ANY sequels for first blood. It was perfect for what it was, and was on a par with movies like the deer hunter as a portrayal of soldiers returning home and struggling to fit in after fighting a very unpopular war.

This was the original story line/plot of John Rambo (Rambo 4. There was also another one involving Rambo comeing out of retirement to work as a consultant with a group of modern Special Forces with modern technology who look at Rambo as kind of a has-been. Oh, you got a compound bow? We have drones Until the tech goes to crap, and they all get captured. And then Ol' Rambo goes badassery, kills all the bad guys, and rescues all the captured soilders.

I still hope we get a reboot of First Blood, where he disembowels a cop during his naked escape from the police station. After running through the woods naked for miles, he obtains clothes and a rifle from hillbillies making moonshine, then slaughters the posse rather than simply wounding them. This is the Rambo we deserve.

The whole Western spin makes SO much sense. Rambo could basically be a traumatized Civil War vet who became a gun-for-hire, hung up his pistols because the West is changing and the days of his kind are drawing to a close, but gets pulled back into one last ride.

Wow, Sly looks downright lithe compared his Untouchables physique. Too bad the plot to Last Blood sounds exactly like Taken, though. Hopefully there are great life lessons in it somewhere that were screaming loud in Rambo and Rocky Balboa.

Rambo did not commit suicide in the original novel. He was bleeding out and about to light a stick of dynamite to kill himself but was too weak to do it. Before he could accomplish this Trautman blows his head off point blank with a shotgun

I enjoyed most of the Rambo movies but Im not fond of this having a picture with the Medal of Honor on when he skipped town during the Vietnam War. Seems a bit self serving. Be Rambo, make a good movie but leave the MOH out of it.

I just hoped we will have final showdown like Rambo vs predator, Hunter from Earth vs Hunter from space in a jungle of course. That could have been a fitting finale for Rambo series. Live for nothing but die for something.
