I considered Guardians of the Galaxy film as a nod to Star Wars & The A-Team, with Rocket Raccoon as Col. John Hannibal Smith & Groot as B. A. Baracus.
Costume accuracy makes me appreciate a superhero TV show/movie more (IE Christopher Reeve's Superman, Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, Jackson Bostwick as Captain Marvel, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as The Black Widow, Chris Evans as Thor, & Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

The real Guardians of the Galaxy won't even be born for almost a thousand years.
Well, except for Major Vance Astro -- he's alive, and hibernating in a starship on his way to Proxima Centauri right now, as he has been since 1988.
The Guardians won't be formed until 3007.
That's according to their origin story (or orange story, for you Republicans) in _Marvel Super-Heroes_ #18 in January 1969.

They could still do a Nova movie. Have it start with the attack on Xander, with another member of the Children of Thanos taking the Power Stone. Have it be a story of revenge against this underling, and by the time he brings them to justice and helps rebuild Xander, he finds out that Thanos has been defeated. or have him help out in Guardians 3 or so.

What do they have it in the first place he's still going to mess up in the past I shouldn't have in the first place they still don't have a good story in it don't have Graphics don't have CGI then why they have in first place they don't have to tack down taut green screen background.

Groot and rocket were the best characters of the comics and the movies. no need to be nervous. in fact I wish the comics and movies would concentrate on them alone. make rocket a captain of his own team. dnd bring a keystone rabbit into the mix.

Ive been a comic book fan as far as I can remember, but I have to say my favorite characters of all the MCU are Guardians. The movies give the impression forget your problems for a couple of hours and just relax.

They absolutely killed it creatively on every aspect of the movie. I knew nothing about Guardians, and it's one of my fav MCU movies!
