The way Muffin adjusted is so sweet.
I had the opposite situation. We started off with a cat who loved his dad. until his dad decided to spend time with someone else. My cat would avoid his dad at all costs.
After we split up, my ex-partner would stop by the new place occasionally to drop off something of mine he'd found. My cat would literally turn his back to his former dad. When the ex would say his name, not even an ear twitch. Just stone cold ignoring. It was beautiful.

I work as a Nursing Assistant and Med Tech in a nursing home. I just passed my 5 year anniversary a few months back. Our admissions director has brought her old tiny mutt in on fridays the entire time I have been there. He's a neurotic little guy. I have been bringing him chew sticks every friday for the past 5 years. 260 treats later, he has finally allowed me to pet him. Also, when he can't find him mom, he will come looking for me.
