Approximately ten years before the events of Phantom Menace Yoda turned the order over to Mace Windu. Windu not thinking it wise to accept the position without Yoda serving as Master of the Order for a period of time. Yoda was convinced to stay on as Master of the Order with Windu assuming Grand Master of the Order. He would hold this position until the start of Clone Wars, giving the leadership back to Yoda as he felt leading the Republic's forces is where he could best serve. Yoda does convince him to take the mantle of Master of the Order.
Prior to Yoda stepping down initially, siting old age and belief that Windu was best suited to lead the order, Yoda held both titles: Grand Master of the Order and Master of the Order.
Additionally I also want to point out that Yoda was again stepping down and making Windu the Grand Master again after the war ended. Whether or not he had officially turned over the leadership after isn't known. As we know Sidious, with Anakin's help defeated Windu and would later defeat Yoda who would go into hiding. Also important to note that ONLY Windu's lightsaber would be recovered by the Sith. His body was never recovered. Both the book and movie reference this when Sidious discusses the Clone commander's report in his office. Sidious even demands they expand their search and find Windu.
And yes I'm aware there is a lot of controversy on both points but canon is canon so long as you acquire it from a source denoted as canon. The prequel trilogy books are canon.

Jedi farmers and jedi book binders and jedi website coders and jedi janitors. they certainly do not possess any actual fighters. Some old men fighting with glowsticks in the same way little boys fight with sticks is not really a fighting force, even when the enemy troops are clownish and never hit a shot.

Jedi's no longer matter - even the last one got retro'd to be defeated by his sister, and Rey Palpatine wins in the end after taking in her Grandfather's force as he asked her to do.

You forgot Commander, a rank assigned to Jedi in command of a battalion or brigade of Clone soldiers, in fact even Jedi in command of a single regiment were Commanders.
