I'm just going to imagine she gave her son up for adoption before succumbing to madness and dying (by her own hand.
Palpatine's son probably lived a normal life growing up before showing signs of being sensitive to the Force. Those who raised him urged him to hide it, most likely revealing who his real father was after he married Rey's mother - much to the horror of both of them.

It's because they we're sitting around on the pitch for 9 and had no clue how to fix the mess Rian Johnson made with The last Jedi. Someone said let's bring Palpatine back. Someone said how, well just bring him back with no real explanation and the fans won't question it. Who was Snoke? We'll just say Palpatine made him. We'll say if Rey kills Palpatine she will become Palpatine and all the Sith. Then 2 seconds later we'll have her kill him and Palpatine doesn't possess Rey's body and no one cares because it's all part of the plan.

Literally the second I saw her in it while in the theater I went HOLY SHIT THAT'S JODIE COMER! (IN A WHISPER, I'm not a jackass who yells things in a theater) and legit jumped so much my sister looked at me like I was insane xD And when she went offscreen I was like NO COME BACK MY PRECIOUS BB!
