A family has to sacrifice one of their own to save the world. Can they do it? Here's what happens after three people hear a Knock at the Cabin. In the original ending during an escape attempt Wen is shot and killed by accident, but it is revealed that doesn't fix anything. Because the sacrifice has to be willing and believe in the mission.
So one of the couple still has to choose and the one is willing to go through it as the last stranger dies. But the other objects not wanting to live a life without his husband or daughter, nor wanting to lose one to a god who didn't consider their daughter a worthy enough death to stop the end of the world.
So they don't sacrifice another, they take their daughters body and drive off to wait for the end of the world together.
