The Entire Witcher Story Explained Weird: This was one of the worsts shows ever.
The plot is completely non-existent, and is set in multiple different time periods, so you have no idea whats happening and very hard to follow. The first episode is a flash forward to the end of the show, which has Nilfgard taking over Cyntra, yet for rest of the show nilfgard is barely even mentioned in the show until the end and we have no screen time for Nilfgard at all until the last episode and we don't know why they are invading the continent or even meet the person who is in charge of it. Henry Cavils acting is incredibly wooden and makes him look like he is trying to do a laughable batman impression. Random characters appear in each episode and never appear again and act if we are supposed to know who they are and care for them when they die.
Geralt goes on random adventures that never link with each other at all or leads to anything significant. Ciri escapes cyntra and is told by her grandmother to find Geralt to protect her, even though she locked him up earlier in a cell when he came to protect Ciri and sends her in an opposite direction away from Geralt. Ciri spends the whole time running away from Nilfgard and weird magical shape shifting creatures, which they don't explain who they are and why. Geralt then miraculously meets Ciri after being attacked by some random creatures in the woods and is rescued by some random guy, which leads him to his cottage which happens to be where Ciri is.
THE END
This Show was complete shite. 8 hours of your life you will never get back.

i actually think the way the story was projected was really unique. it's a kind of show that would really make you think and would make you wonder about alot of things. and because of that, you would eventually want to watch the next episodes, for you to really figure the whole plot out. so personally, it was a really nice touch. but if you are lacking of comprehension skills, well ofcourse, it would probably confuse u a bit. Overall, i think it's an amazing show. Got me hooked and wishing that season 2 would come out alot sooner.

I watched Season 1, read all of The Witcher books, and then re-watched Season 1.
Looking back, I thought they could have done a little better job making things clearer & easier to pick up on, especially if you're trying to gain new fans of the show.
However, I did enjoy the challenge of it all that first viewing, like a puzzle, and different compared to most shows.
Happy to hear Season 2 will be a lot more streamlined, good for character development and hopefully picking up more fans of an awesome story.

I dont think the timeline was hard to follow. At least for me. If you pay attention, then you know whats happening and you begin to understand that there are different timelines. Its kind of like when sucker punch came out and people didnt like it because they got confused with the different realities within the movie and only the people who paid attention understood what was happening. In my opinion its a great way to capture the viewers attention and engage them in what is going on.

This was one confusing show. I mean I couldn't do take me eyes off the tv once because I might got lost when I look look back on the screen. I always say a show is good if I can answer a few messages on your phone while listening to the show and not get lost. well maybe am just not smart enough for this one.

The timelines werent the issue. It seemed more like the first season was about Yennefer with supporting cast Giralt and Ciri. I would have thought Geralt and Ciri would be the main focus. With side looks at Yennefer. I know in the video games its central theme IS Geralt and Ciri.

Any scenes with Yennefer - Past
Any scenes with Geralt - Present
Any scenes with Ciri - Future
Eventually they all submerge, not that hard to follow. Critics just saw 1st episode and passed the judgement for the whole season based off that. Not sure if bad or impatient.

I (sadly) haven't yet read the books or played the games but I understood the timeline. Had to give it some thought, but I was able to figure out some stuff and enjoy the ride without being confused the entire time.

This series has a potential to replace Game of Thrones. But that is a confusing time line. I hope audience won't drop it in confusion before they get into the meat of the story, the saga.

I don't think the timelines confused me as much as how and why everyone's destinies were intertwined. Maybe it just went so quickly and I wasn't paying close enough attention?
