Return of the Jedi is and has always been the best true ending to Star Wars.
If they had to make another trilogy which they have, they should started with Luke and should have had something more then Sith, like why couldnt they had made a story about pure bloods? Or Sith Space? Like why did they do this again? Its boring.
I dont what anyone says but I love Star Wars as much as the next fan but Im more realistic to a point where I wanted something with the story. Well we all did but it just shows that they were thinking more nostalgic then anything else.
And it pisses me off that some people are defending them, like really? Did you even watch the originals or the prequels? They have been told so we need something new!

Trilogy was way too spooked by fans that Lucasfilm ignored good old fashioned ideation, cinematic u inverse building and IP portfolio value building, Instead, ignoring new audiences they do fan nostalgia, fan subversion (Is negating, and fan apology/ fan service. Its all insider jokes and prodding without regards to sincere and honest creativity. New fans just didnt care because no effort was made to develop anything new. We appreciate the return of good old fashion production effects, but remedying these shallow criticisms of the prequels doers not a good film make

Lucas originally intended to make episodes 7 to 9 and to have a final confrontation between Luke and the Emperor. He actually changed his mind and decided Palpatine had died, despite Darth Maul surviving not only falling down a shaft but also being cut in half. So (1) claiming Maul didn't die, but (2) the more powerful Palpatine did, and (3) having originally planned to have Palpatine survive, makes George Lucas being upset about this quite lame.

So its time George Lucas takes directing new Star Wars, why not Force Unleashed? Or go back to the beginning knights of the old republic? New stories new characters.
But. Noooo just bring back old enemies from the dead, I bet the next Star Wars they will bring back Vader from the dead as a clone.

I don't have a problem Palpatine return, but i want his return to be like in Dark Empire comic. Only 7 years after Battle of Endor. When Luke defeated by Palpatine he was posess by Anakin Skywalker and fulfill his destiny as The Chosen One (i prefer this kind of story)

People may have hated on the last Jedi but what fans wanted wasnt actually a retcon, it was a magical ending that made the things they hated about TLJ worth it, like a justification of TLJ rather than a course correct.

I hate what Disney has done to Star Wars. The ONE SINGLE THING that I think Disney did right was bringing back Palpatine in the last episode. He is just so iconic, and needs to be represented in the final episode.
