The comics experimented with Smart Hulk using Professor Hulk as their method but the character inevitably backslides into the more familiar and popular Hulk Smash iteration.
Which makes sense. There's only so many things you can do with the character in that mode before you end up telling green skin Superman stories which, while okay, aren't really what drove the man is a monster vibe of The Hulk in the first place.
Basically once Bruce gets therapy to deal with his deep rooted emotional trauma, which is what the gamma mutation ultimately tapped into, a lot of his character arc is resolved.
Part of what makes She-Hulk so amusingly different from Hulk is her relative lack of trauma so her hulking out doesn't have an emotionally damaged rage-child to manifest in the first place.
