The Dahmer Backlash Is Getting Worse After New Set Details Emerge

Dahmer tells a dark story, but behind the scenes, things allegedly got ugly in a different way. Zuivbal: While no one is making TV shows/biopics/documentaries, Families are championing about awareness/visibility/respect for victims.
When they make a biopic/documentary/raise awareness they believe it's shocking and want a cut of the profits. Let's be frank about what is happening.
The acting in this series is outstanding. The series itself does not glorify Dahmer or present him as misunderstood or a character you should be sympathetic towards. It explores his childhood and his journey to where he ended up but it leaves you with enough questions about nature or nurture that you have to determine that, the show isn't trying to absolve him in any way.
Important to remember some elements are not truthful and are dramatised. I would hope Netflix will donate to charities or to the idea of a memorial for the victims with the profits but the idea that the families are entitled to profit from their relatives deaths is obscene in itself.
If Netflix had presented the victims stories in a way that was derogatory to their memory then fine but I don't believe this series was anything but sympathetic.
It is difficult and I have every sympathy for the families. No one deserves what happened to those guys.

Give me a break about the production assistants crying about not getting mental health help. I m sorry, but as a nurse of nearly 20 years that s worked through Katrina and a pandemic to which I had to watch my own father die from us NURSES didn t get mental health help. We just had to get up and go to work. If you can t handle being a production assistant without needing mental healthcare then you probably shouldn t be working anywhere. Dang I get tired of this super sensitive I m offended by EVERYTHING generation that s coming behind mine! Life is HARD. Grow some skin bc ain t nobody going to hold your hand all the way through this life, nor should you expect anyone to! I mean it s getting ridiculous! You knew you were going to work on a series about a very disturbing string of killings. That s on you. Your mental healthcare is ultimately YOUR responsibility and not everyone else s! Just like I am sure people will comment that I went into nursing and should ve been prepared and I was up until we had a pandemic. Nobody was prepared for that. I m just saying that we are raising a very weak generation and it makes me nervous for the future

This is why they don t let victims families choose the sentences for criminals: because they were personally affected, they re clouded by emotion. Some people say that because it happened to them, their opinion matters most. I disagree. The closer you are to it, the more your judgement is clouded by your emotions. So we let an impartial judge decide the sentence. Likewise, while I feel for the families here, their severe discomfort doesn t mean we can t watch or discuss this event. Sorry. They shouldn t watch. No one is making them. People need to learn to ignore or tough through things they don t like rather than asking the world to conform to their needs. Society can t function that way. I like the idea of giving the families some portion of the revenue or doing something else good with it, like maybe finally getting Milwaukee to build that memorial where the apartment complex used to be.

its just crazy how the comments are insensitive to the victims families if my brother was a victim of dahmer nd netflix didn't ask for permission to use his image nd story I would b pissed too ( they could of changed the name and appearance and only real history buffs/ family members of the victim would know who they were. Also some of the stuff was altered to make it more interesting so that would bother ppl too, for example, Dahmer's neighbor who kept calling the police were two separate women they combined nd she lived in the next building not next door. Also f the public record argument Ive dealt with the court system as well nd i wouldn't want Hollywood trying to retell my story because of how much it effected me but some of yall just want to b entertained like this is Gladiator

It was the best series about a serial killer. It made you feel for the victims. It was haunting. Superb acting. All people do now is create controversy about every little thing!
Netflix does not legally have to ask permission to make this. Also, really. PTSD from being called the wrong name? Call me the wrong name all day long, seems like a rad job to me. Let s trade jobs and then you ll see how amazing you had it in comparison.

This was a part of our history, and what people did and said is part of the public record. In these days when everything is recorded ad nauseum, it s to be expected that one s words and actions would be rebroadcast or recreated.
This wasn t comfortable viewing, and it wasn t meant to be. I can guarantee that after having watched it, the names of his victims are engrained on my memory, as they should be.

That employee is trying to get attention
No disrespect to the victims' families. But no film would be made if everyone has to take permissiom to make films on real events. War movies, films based on real stories of s ual assault, all fall under the category. No one is praising dahmer. everyone is questioning the system back then. What's the matter then? Isn't it good?

No one is making them watch this show. Anyone who is irl connected to this should not watch it especially if it is going to affect their mental health. It s not a pretty story. It s horrific and very disturbing. Everyone knows this. So, just don t go there. Also, every business is in business to make money. Stop saying it s all about the money.

People watching the series like it's truth, but:
1. The neighbor Glenda Cleveland didn't actually live in the Oxford Apartments (or ever meet Jeffrey.
2. Lionel Dahmer did not teach Jeffrey how to dissect roadkill
3. Jeffrey's real neighbours were not overly suspicious of him
4. Jeffrey Dahmer didn't wear his glasses during trial

It's not like Dahmer is new and all of this is public knowledge. And saying your not money hungry but then expecting compensation is weird. It was a tragedy but there wasn't this much out cry when they did silence of the lamb series or Hannibal. Or even my friend Dahmer just saying.

I like how it was a biopic and not another docu series. Mostly everyone knows about Dahmer, but not everyone is aware of how he was able to continue his killing spree. The incompetence of the police, homophobia and racism all played a huge factor.

Soldiers, r pe victims, even the real people this series depicted, all suffer from real PTSD. Yet this woman is claiming it because she got called the wrong name? Also, don't believe her at all that that was supposed to be a private tweet.
reply

Who thumbs up this garbage ass content? I'm supposed to not watch the show because they didn't pay out the sister of a victim? Or because they didn't have enough black people in the production? This type of shit is why people voted for Trump
reply

I mean she's basically right that this was a cash grab by netflix. The public loves serial killer stories. And the Dahmer story was done to death before this show. I don't care if people enjoy it. Let's just be honest about what it is
