Martin Scorcese has just released one of his greatest movies and it seems like nobody cares. So why didn't audiences turn out for Killers of the Flower Moon?

Ill take a shot at it. perhaps its because white people are now refusing to voluntarily sign up for movies where theyll be called racists or murderers. Who can blame them? This movie undoubtedly sets out to remind everyone who killed Native Americans in America besides other Native Americans ofcourse. If you wanted to make a movie about Native Americans slaughtering tribe after tribe of their kind there would be zero money available to make that movie. But Its election season so the Left aims to gin up anger regarding what they deem historical crimes and to spin that anger into electotal success. Theyve been running this playbook for several years now. It seems they may be running out of white guilt to exploit as people realize they were NOT there and share no blame in events they neither participated in, green lit, or witnessed. Good for them.

The thing is that Oppenheimer wasn't alone when it debuted. It had Barbie! The Barbenheimer online trend really gave those 2 films tons of free marketing. Many girls who would have never watched Oppenheimer and guys who never would have watched Barbie, watched both as part of doing the Barbenheimer double, sometimes even on the same day. It was something that won't most likely never to be replicated to the point those 2 films did again and any other films that follow can't realisticly expect to have a similar outcome. The only other film that might compete with regards to Box Office to Oppenheimer might be Ridley Scott's Napoleon which has Joaquin Phoenix, who in did really well with the 2019 Joker Movie. Its unfortunate that Killers of the Flower Moon flopped financially, but from what I've heard its still great film.

Scorsese is a great director but I prefer genre films like action, horror and superhero movies. In my opinion as long as the films are well made, acted and entertaining, any type of film is cinema. And some genre films can transend what they are and be considered great regardless of what type of film it is. Like The Exorcist, Psycho, The Dark Knight for example. Westerns used to be looked down on and some of the greatest films ever made are Westerns like The Searchers, Unforgiven, Once Upon A Time In The West for example. I'm not knocking him but if doesn't want to have an open mind that's his opinion. I just want great films to watch no matter what category they fall in. Not all billion dollar grossing movies are worth watching and not all box office failures are bad films. It depends on the individual.

A hot take but I think a lot of people were intimidated by the run time as well as the subject matter. If this had come out ten years ago I think it would have been a bigger hit but a lot of people are tired of the white man is bad theme that tends to be in so many mainstream movies now. For me, I just couldn t bring myself to go because of the runtime. It s just too much. I saw John wick 4, mission impossible and Oppenheimer in theaters and while I loved them all, I def started getting very heavy eyed by the last hour.

I want these story, to be done buy a different director! First of all how did this movie cost 200 million! And now with the story, I want a new Director to tell it not being a mafio story from the guys! Make the story about her! it s always about Leonardo DiCaprio, which he is a great after! Those actors and the Director, we re pulling off the movie more than the people that mattered we re being shown in the movie!

Don't hate me for saying this but people are tired of movies about racial inequality. It doesn't matter how amazing the movie ends up being. They want to go to a movie and escape, not spend three hours listening to a lecture disguised as a narrative. Oppenheimer was an outlier because it wasn't about race. It was about something most people are deeply concerned about: nuclear destruction.

I honestly thought this movie was paced very well for 3. 5 hours, an entire hour of the film evaporated into thin air. The first hour I admit could have been shorter but other than that, it was great. People need to stop supporting the crap Marvel films and support ones like these. You can watch 5 hours of a tv show, so surely people can watch this.

I liked KOFM although run time was an issue and I wouldn't rank it as one Scorsese's best films but it's kinda pointless talking about Scorsese in terms of box office his films aren't made to make alot of money he makes films that last and are talked for years to come plus generally do good at awards ceramonies and with critics.

Poor marty boy can t even beat taylor swift which is definitely not cinema. People here saying it s not about the box office, you wouldn t be able to honestly say that if you are one of the investors. Or maybe you will because that s how much of a pretentious cinephile you like to think yourself to be.

This movie killers should of been sold on streaming and you would of got a better result. I think the problem is that streaming has become the new theater for home. So unless you have a must see film all movies will be better to watch on your own tv screen like this movie killers.

Netflix and IPic Theatres made a deal to screen Netflix Original Movies in their cinemas. The Irishman was one of many films screened there. It was a terrific experience, I also caught El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie when that released.

It's strange but I actually found Oppenheimer to feel much longer than KOTFM, despite being 25min shorter. I guess it's personal preference but I found Killers to be much more gripping / engrossing!

It just shows the u dimmed down attitude of society when one of the greatest directors makes a masterpiece but the little piggies are complaining it s too long, they just don t have the brain power

I don't know why it failed. Seems interesting, it's history. I read the story just now. I like it. Scorcese is excellent director. It's good it succeeds in some way

Watching a movie where white people rip off indigenous peoples doesn't appeal to me. As an indigenous person I don't need to watch it. My people live it.

It s one of them movies that feels like it s going somewhere and that it s going to start picking up at any moment until the end of the movie

After spending 60 to take my five year old to see the Mario movie (that's two tickets + popcorn, I vowed never to go the theatre again.

Being so long turned me off seeing this.
If a director is so clever, they can make a movie way shorter. 2 and a half hours max.

I wanted to see it so bad the other day, and maybe I ll still go see it, but when I saw the run time, I just couldnt do it.

Watched it yesterday it was good, didn't feel the long running time, just sitting there staring at screen, it was worth it
