So many missing: Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell, a good quarter of Bob Seger's discography (but especially Roll Me Away, Feel Like A Number and Hollywood Nights, Springsteen's Thunder Road, Nowhere Fast from the Streets of Fire Soundtrack, Rush' The Spirit of Radio, The Doors L. A. Woman, Freedom 90 by George Michael.
Honestly, you could probably do four or five of these Road Trip Anthems lists and never really get a definitive list. This one is close, but I'd still yank half of them and replace one or three of these and pop in Cochrane's Life is A Highway from the Honourable Mention section.

Tiny Dancer is a song best played in the middle of the night when crossing a bleak and featureless area.
Gotta add Black Velvet to that time frame as well.
But, for that 'need for speed' portion of your drive, Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar is the top.

Easy Rider should have been first. you missed the Who Going Mobile one of my favorites. Rocking down the highway. I can not remember who sings that. and of course Going up to country heck Progressive uses that song.
reply

I had Im Gonna Be (500 Miles) cranked one day in the car with the windows down and a guy in the car next to me at the lights started singing along as well. We both drove off with big smiles: -)

Anyone tried these for crusin'?
Peace Of Mind - Boston
We're an American Band - Grand Funk Railroad
Life is a Highway - Rascal Flatts
Free Ride - Edgar Winter Group

What about Holiday Road by Lindsay Buckingham, from national lampoons vacation? I thought that song would definitely make this list. That song is the epitome of road trip songs!
reply

Sorry. you didn't have Springsteen's Born to Run. I mean- what better song for the open road! Can't hardly stay under the speed limit when this song is blasting.
reply

When my sister was a baby Hey Ya would make her cry. As soon as the chorus hit she'd burst in to tears and my parents would have to change radio stations.
reply

Ok i agree with number one but life is a high should have been more then just an honorable mention and some AC DC should be on here.
reply

Born To Be Wild
Sweet Home Alabama
Highway Star
Ace Of Spades
Highway To Hell
La Grange
Going Up The Country
LA Woman

reply

These are all great Road Trip Songs but lets be honest, Rascal Flats cover of Life is a Highway shouldve been on the list and be #1.
reply

Why's the list incomplete? Where's highway to hell? Just how can y'all imagine a road trip without not even a single one of AC/DCs
reply

Life In The Fast Lane - Eagles, Uptown Funk - Bruno, Def Leppard (any song of theirs will work, Somebody Like You - Keith Urban
reply

Jump by Van Halen, Roll With The Changes by REO Speedwagon, and Don't Stop Believin' by Journey should be on this list
reply

How did Detroit Rock City and Highway to Hell not make the list and Born to Be Wild only rate an honorable mention?
reply

My friends and I would sing this song in the car every time we were driving to the beach. So many memories!
reply

These aren't Road Trip Anthems, these are car rides to the club anthems: / No AC/DC? No Johnny Cash? Sheeeesh
reply

This is a list tailor made for Life is a Highway and it cant crack the top 10! I cant quite believe that
reply
