The real version of the Black Crochan death is such more impactful. A companion part of Taran's group to find the crochan is a spiteful, downright hateful character named Prince Ellidyr who although a Prince was left nothing but his title by his father. Prince Ellidyr treats everyone around him with contempt as he considers them below him. But its all a front, Ellidyr is tough because he comes from a royal house that has no holdings, he's poor, and acts out of stubborn pride. He tries at one point to blackmail the group into receiving all the credit for finding the crochan and he betrays the group to Morgant (Who also was once good but turned to darkness) hoping to gain favor and is repaid with a beating and further disgrace. As Taran and his friends face death and being reborn into Cauldron-Born Ellidyr realizes his mistakes, apologizes and so sacrifices himself at the last moment to save Taran and company by leaping into the cauldron. His mare who was his only friend throws herself off a cliff after his death. Ellidyr, his mare, and Morgant (for the man he once was) are buried honorably. The movie version sort of combines The Book of Three and The Black Cauldron into one story. But the series as a whole is downright my favorite of my childhood.

ok. No. I'll stand by with Te'Ka and Te'Fiti thing, even though that was only a shock if you don't understand how fertile volcanic soil is or couldn't piece together that Te'Ka only started existing when Te'Fiti disapeared, but HANS being number 1? No no no.
The only reason this twist even happened is because the writers were mandated to need a villain. This wasn't a twist, it was a contrivance. Twists are things where previous evidence and scenes can point to the truth of the situation. This was an immoral heel turn. Hans trying to kill Anna and Elsa just straight doesn't make sense for one reason. If Anna lived, Hans would have gotten everything he wanted. If she died, he would have had to fight and claw and wheel and deal to even begin to positioning himself in a position of power over a kingdom he has no claim over.
That wasn't a twist because there was no evidence or overt planning on Hans' end to pay it off. Hans coincidentally ran into Anna, Anna gave temporary power to Hans without him asking or pushing for it, and Hans' plan, as I said, would have succeeded if he DIDN'T try to kill Anna.
It wasn't a twist. It was terrible writing.

vanellope leaving wasnt a big plot twist when you paid attention she was bored with the races in sugar rush, the heart breaking perfectly in two, and she absolutely loved slaughter race she wanted to stay there the whole movie pointed to her wanting something new like that
same really with brave they kept talking about a bear and this prince then suddenly a witch comes in with a bunch of bear stuff made out of wood
even again with moana if you were paying attention it literally tells/shows you in the beginning of the movie that maui took te fiti heart and basically right after he took it ta ka showed up plus not mention how the spiral from the heart completes the spiral on ta kas chest

In the book Black Cauldron, it was Ellidyr, the reformed antagonist, who sacrifices. Not Gurgi.
We learn the twist about Meg very early on, her very next scene after meeting her. We also understand that shes actually rooting for Hercules, despite having her arm twisted into working against him.
Also what another commenter said: Elsas hug has nothing to do with it- other than to show everyone that she is not the monster they think she is. In choosing to save her sister rather than herself, sacrificing her own last chance of rescue to protect Elsa, ANNA HERSELF performed the act of true love which ultimately saved her too.

out of ALL of these plot twists, Mr. Waternoose and Randall working together was the one that always shocked me the most. maybe its bc i saw it when i was just a tiny child and i trusted too easily then, but it was always the biggest twist in a childs film ive ever seen, particularly one in which you would trust the character wholeheartedly and without doubts.
next up is Kenai being the one who killed Kodas mom. that shit was wacky.
Hector being Miguels real great great grandfather was also a huge twist, but i kind of saw that one coming a mile away. Ernesto was oddly very suspicious in an unexplainable way.

Another Disney plot twist was in 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure. Patch's canine hero was Thunderbolt, introduced in the original movie. Here we are introduced to Thunderbolt's silly sidekick, Li'l Lightning. I will never get over the turnabout of Li'l Lightning's hero figure into a vile villain getting his plot of replacing Thunderbolt's leading position. Shocking that he remained evil to the end, and was escorted to jail. That is where a evil naughty dog belongs!
Title this Disney plot twist The Good Dog Gone Bad

I have a theory about Hans. I believe that he was actually in love with Anna at the beginning of the film, but then Elsa was revealed to have powers and Hans saw it as an opportunity. At that moment, he realized that he could finally have a kingdom, and he ended up wanting Anna for that reason. True love is unconditional, his love for her was conditional. Thinking back, it was conditional in the first place, he wanted to marry a princess, it wasn't love at first sight.

If only this Ms. Mojo presentation wasn't restricting itself to Disney pictures, I would have added a rotten plot twist in an epic animated film from Universal. In the original An American Tail, there was that shocking scene when all were floored to see that Warren T. Ratt was really Warren T. CATT! I suppose we all should have seen it coming, considering the evildoer's height AND his rough, tough Brooklyn gangster voice. So what shall this plot twist be called?

Let me get this straight: When Turbo crashed the new game, he became a virus and got lucky enough to survive. And the only way to ensure his survival more is to hack other games, like Sugar Rush, and make Venelope a glitch so she can die and he can live? Did I get something wrong? Was there something I missed?
reply

The Hercules one was not correct. Meg wasn't working with Hades from the beginning. she is introduced into the movie before Hades even realizes Hercules is still alive. After that, the movie lets the audience see Hades forcing Meg to start manipulating Hercules. So it wasn't a twist in any way.
reply

Who would have thought a Mythical Villain would still be around? uh. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be mythical.
Also, wouldn't Venelope leaving cause her game to get shut down? Her leaving ruined every other character's lives in that game. So ya. It was unexpected that she was that selfish.

Also the one about Big Hero 6, that one was kind of evident when Calahan made dart eyes at Cray and kept talking about how he cut corners, this is later proved by them watching the video about that teleport machine and us finding out that girl who wasn't found was Calahan's daughter
reply

I don't understand why the Hercules one (Meg working for Hades) is even on this list. Of course we saw it coming, we saw all of the plotting between them throughout the movie. Sure, Hercules doesn't see it coming, but we do, and I thought that was the point of the list.
reply

Okay, but you missed one that I think should have been at least an honorable mention. Miles Axelrod was the lemon head. Hate Cars 2 all you want, but that was a pretty solid twist. You cant deny that it was a good one. Also, WHY THE HECK IS CARS 2 SO HATED!
reply

I pretty much knew Meg was working with hades from the very start but it was shocking that it was actually because she owed a debt to Hades that her soul belong to him so he can do what ever he wanted with her evn letting her to do the manipulating.
reply

I'm sorry, but the Meg reveal needs to be lower on the list. We are shown only a few minutes after meeting Meg that she's working with Hades. It's not a shocker twist. It wasn't given enough time to be a twist with all the others on the list.

Actually I guessed that the Bowler Hat Guy was Goob when he was trying to influence young Goob to remain bitter, and I figured that Bellweather was involved in the Night Howler scheme to some degree.
reply

It has been years since I've seen Brother Bear (still one of my favourite disney film of all time, but a few seconds of that clip at the start reminded me of that twist and I. AM. STILL. SHOOK.
reply

My number one pick wloud be gagatte is not all evil but bas get a reality check from Oliver and Company just look at the state of her naer the end of the film I even I didn't see it cameing
reply

i mean discovering a new specie or animal means you contributed to science and your name will be written in history, it is kind of a big deal, but to kill someone for it is wayyy too far.
reply

The biggest twist for me is finding out The Black Cauldron is actually a Disney movie. I get there's Nightmare before Christmas, but seriously, that movie takes it to a different level.
reply

I mean. the thing about number 7 is that immediately after Hercules flies off, we see Meg and Hades together so it's not really some big plot twist when Hercules finds out
reply

I think the biggest Disney plot twist was when we found out Phineas remembered everything from the 2nd dimension in the goodbye song from Phineas and Ferb.

For those of you TD Fans: For Total Drama Tangled Cast: Courtney = Rapunzel, Blainley/(aka Mildred) = Mother Gothel, and Duncan = Flynn Ryder aka Eugene Fitzherbert

It's taken me this many years just to find out gurgi survived, that shit broke me man, left a hole in my heart for years. Swore off black cauldron because of it

Ralph Wrecks the Internet only deserves to be featured on worst of lists. It totally contradicts, well, everything from the excellent original film.

I will say I saw Hans coming a mile away. Never liked him from the start. But a bunch of these did get me when I watched them for the first time.

Number 12 was my first twist villain but upon rewatching TS2 many times you really notice how Pete manipulates Woody right from the start.
reply

The surprise twist in Wreck It Ralph; the truth about what was really going on in that candy coated heart of darkness SHOCKED me the most!
