These are more recent ones, rather than covering ones made in the past. Several more come to mind- Ma Rainey's Black Bottom- starring Viola Davis (Ma Rainey was Bessie Smith's mentor, Bessie- Bessie Smith story starring Queen Latifah (Monique plays Ma Rainey in that one, Lady Sings The Blues- Billie Holiday story starring Diana Ross, The Little Richard Story- starring Leon Robinson, Cadillac Records- Etta James story starring Beyonce as Etta. didn't go over well. Especially with Etta. Who do you think they should do a bio pic on that is long overdue? I'd like to see one on Big Maybelle, Alberta Hunter, Jeff Buckley, and especially Donna Summer.

For the most part I agree with you choices and have added a few films to my must see list. I think 'Ray' was formulaic and was more of a vehicle for social issues than the music of a brilliant musician. Older films could have been included like 1955's 'Love me or leave me' or 'Lady sings the blues' where both lead actresses perform the songs and not lip synch. Anyway it is a good video and I enjoyed it-thanks for posting.

Id give bohemian rhapsody the first spot. Sure it has so many innacurate parts bur the film leaves us super pumped like when how you feel after going to a great concert.
Sure it May lack depth but Damn Who cares when you finish with a smile after watching it.
Its pure Magic.
People Who never cared about Queen became fans thanks to Bohemian Rhapsody.

The fact that its been decades for Hollywood to produce a theatrical Elvis biopic is really surprising to me. Theyve made several TV bios and films about different peoples perspectives but never a legit high budget one on his overall story. Weird considering he has one of the most interesting and groundbreaking careers. Same with the Beatles

Uhm where is Bessie starring Queen Latifah and Monique? Bessie Smith is one of the most important first best selling black artists, let alone a pioneering blues vocalist who paved the way for rock n roll. Latifah and Moniques performances received universal acclaim and this movie should be on this list

Most accurate music biopic are the ones played by the artists themselves. But Most biopics are considered accurate because people over-glamourize the characters.
So here are some real accurate music biopics about the artist played by the artists
1. 8 mile
2. Purple Rain
3. This is it
