Fun fact: the show was originally called spivey's kid brother and the pilot was filmed around 1998/1999 but the entire show was retooled and renamed Even Stevens and premiered in 2000. While the original pilot was never aired and probably is full of dust at Disney headquarters parts were shown in the episode when ren and Louis were on a Ferris wheel
The whole retooling sort of explains why none of them from season 2 onward look like they are middle schollers despite them being middle schoolers in the show.

Small update: I haven't seen him in a few years now, but the last I knew Fred Meyers was living in Texas and working as a paramedic. I believe he now owns a fitness center? That's what I've heard at least. We weren't BFFs or anything but I have hung out with him and his girlfriend (at least at the time) a number of times. He seems very happy to me. He's a friendly and hilarious guy.

Just randomly re-watched the whole series on Disney+ and was so disappointed that it ended oddly on the 3rd season. I also 100% forgot they had an older brother.
