Rise? She's been a legendary action icon internationally for years. Now if you mean finally getting her respect, from these lazy clowns in America then ok. I could make an argument no female in history, has had more impact or influence on the action genre then Michelle Yeoh. She and Cynthia Rothrock in Yes Madam, started the Girls with Guns Genre of action. But where Michelle separated herself, from the other Girls With Guns women after her like Cynthia Khan, Moon Lee, etc? Michelle wasn't just a great, artial arts stunt person. Her acting was incredible when given the chance to truly let it out 9 as we've seen in recent years. Shame it took how long, before finally letting her get a lead role in Hollywood.

Michelle's best films:
-1984's Yes, Madam w Cynthia Rothrock
-Supercop, also with the brilliant Maggie Cheung + Jackie.
-The Heroic Trio, + its sequel The Executioners, again w Maggie + the magnificent late Anita Mui
-1994 Wing Chun, the tofu tray fight is hilarious + Donnie Yen getting 2nd billing.
-1997 The Soong Sisters, again w Maggie
-2000 CTHD, one of the best films ever crafted into eternity
-2011 The Lady, where Michelle portrayed Aung San Sui Kyi, + had to give a long speech in Burmaese.
-Obviously the award winning EEAAO.

This video is well done except it gave TOO much credit to Tarantino for bringing Michelle of her crisis(Western bias)
In 1996, Michelle almost died from a spinal injury suffered on the set of The Stunt Woman (directed by 5 times Hong Kong
Best Director, Anne Hui) and ironically, from a relatively simple stunt, for Michelle.
Then, Michelle had been acting in Hong Kong since 1984, I highly doubt she didn't have any local confidants + friends, and
her close mother, rather than Tarantino, to encourage her to resume acting.

Its always been a pleasure having to watch her performance in the past, and after seeing this year's Everything Everywhere All at Once. I cannot wait to spend whats left of my nerdy life watching her future films and shows. Im happy to hear there's a lot more coming, and I hope Hollywood never stop giving her all these great projects that she well handles, to continue opening doors for artists like her in next generations. Michelle Yeoh is an Asian Nerd Treasure.

I absolutely love Michelle Yeoh.
Everything I've seen her in, even the terrible 3rd Mummy movie. She has such a presence, grace, strength, sly sense of humor, and absolute badassery, that she elevates EVERY project that she's a part of.
Extremely intelligent and a woman's woman.
I'm not worthy but, if I ever met her I can only hope that I don't turn into a blubbering mess.

She is so awesome. My first memory of her was from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and as a result it's what I remember first. I'm happy also to find some movies from this I hadn't seen of hers that I will need to check out. I hope she keeps working in the industry, even if one day she has to hang up the action stuff I feel she has so much to offer.

Michelle Yeoh is such a incredible actress. her performance of our Myanmar Democracy Leader Daw Aung San Su Kyi in the movie The Lady is nothing short of outstanding. Now she did awesomely great in Everything Everywhere All at Once once again. I really hope that she will get her first best actress Oscar nomination at next year award season.

Originating from a small and a little bit unknown country like Malaysia, we're so lucky to have someone like Michelle Yeoh to represent our country in such big platform like Hollywood. We love you Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, an Ipoh-born lass who made it to the world. Fun fact, she was MISS WORLD MALAYSIA in 1986.

I love the fact that i saw her the first time in Crouching tiger hidden dragon when i was 8 in 2000 and then i did not see her in films until years later, i straight out recognized her when i saw Shang-Chi in theaters and soon later in Everything everywhere!
My nostalgia heart is happy to see her again

I was introduced to her as a Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies, and her best works have been, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Crazy Rich Asians, Shang Chi and the legend of the 10 rings. I haven't seen Everything Everywhere all at once. Because it's not playing in my area

A true icon, and role model! She's my wife lol she's just so sophisticated, mature, talented, beautiful, and smart! Not to mention she's kick ass, definitely paving the way for women to be more than just a pretty thing!
Thank you for this video! Loved it!

Michelle Yeoh is a fantastic actress, one of my favourite. Ground breaking as a Bond Girl, a strong martial artist in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, a Dragon lady looking out for the family in Crazy Rich Asians. I wish there were more actresses like her.

I loved her being the famous Geisha Mameha in the movie Memoirs Of An Geisha. I have read the book and instantly i thought in my head that Michelle Yeoh would be perfect for that role. Ans i m glad that she was chosen to play Mameha.

I LOOOOOOOOVE HER! Talk about a powerhouse lady of the martial arts world! Michelle is so amazing. I've heard her described as the female version of the legend Jackie Chan. I say she's the legend Michelle Yeoh! Better recognize!
reply

She's one of those actors that I am always drawn to everytime she appears on the screen.
It's like, i'm not really a fan-fan, but her presence always sparks my curiosity and interests to the projects she's involved in.

Im so happy I got to watch Everything, Everywhere with my dad, from whom I get my Asian side. Its so philosophically complex and hilarious, and Michelle does a phenomenal job in all of the movies Ive seen her in.
reply

Love Michelle Yoeh! I love her in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha and Crazy Rich Asians! I have watched these movies multiple times and they never get old! And she never ages! Incredible!
reply

Um, Crazy Rich Asians was hardly Michelle's first foray into comedy. Have you not seen a Hong Kong martial arts movie? Wing Chun is just 100% comedy throughout, not to mention the Jackie Chan movies.
reply

Rise?
She has always been there. But overlooked and like she said, put into a particular box.
I am happy for her because she is genuinely a good person (Malaysian here.

reply

I think my favorite film of hers remains 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, ' though 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' is still one of the greatest films of all time.
reply

if this amazing lady does not get at least a nomination for next year's Oscar, all is wrong with the world. OH who am i kidding - she is already a legend.

Great moviefunny, controversial, clever and great acting. What else can we ask for. Jamie Lee Curtis and Michelle are an amazing acting couple. Love them

her 'what ever you can do I can do better' attitude made me believe I can do whatever I need to

reply

It has always been Tomorrow Never Dies until Everything Everywhere All at Once comes along. Seriously, I think Michelle should be the next Bond!
reply

Michelle Yeoh really deserves to be up there with modern Queens such as Kathy Bates, Loretta Devine and Octivia Spencer. She's phenomenal.
