I share this story with every Samoyed owner on how loyal they can be: We rescued a older puppy from a friend who was leaving her family and there were not the resources for keeping pets like there are now (in some places. He bonded with my elder grandmother who even in her youth was a bit of a troublemaker and liar (now called BP. He would follow her all over our house and sleep with her every night. As he grew up he would start to push her around in her wheelchair on her command towards her attached apartment. Okay, Baseline set. In her last few years she had to get some pretty extensive dental surgery that resembled inquisitorial torture. We brought her home and he met her at the mudroom entry like always. Smelled the blood and got right nose-to-nose like who did this to you, my Queen? I shall end them. My grandmother was in one of her dramatic moods and on meds so told this poor dog Oh, Boo-Boo, you need to stop worrying about me because I'll be dead by morning. That dog went into the bathroom (dog proofed, he slept in the tub to keep cool during warmer weather, got in his tub and willed himself into a cardiac arrest. Not kidding at all here. True to my Grandmother's nature she didn't die for another 3-4 years after that. I know when that dog saw her he didn't give two holy hoots and just danced on his back legs over. So, yes, they are good dogs but too smart and empathetic for their own good sometimes: )

I have a German Shepherd and my daughter has a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. While my GS is polite, and well-trained (she pretty much trained herself, our Corgi is a beast.
Corgi's are very stubborn, thus tough to train. They are gluttonous pigs and will eat anything, even if it's not edible. She's already had 2 surgeries to remove things stuck in the back of her throat. They are really food aggressive. I will not let my grandson anywhere near when it's her feeding time. With the German Shepherd, my grandson can sit next to her bowl and eat the dog food with her if he wanted. Our Corgi tears things up even when she knows it's a no-no. That sweet little girl, Asherah, the Corgi, is black and white with brindle coloring on her cheeks & right behind her ears. She is adorable but tries my patience every day.
I'm 58 and the only dogs I've ever had have been female German Shepherds. I feel the females are more protective than males. I would recommend getting a German Shepherd to anyone as long as you have a big yard and things for your dog to do. They're working dogs and they need the stimulation or they'll tear up your yard or your home.

I have a Maltese Yorkie named Dexter and he's a huge snuggle bumps. He loves to eat, play fetch and he loves people in general. He's also a ten-year-old rescue dog and we've had him for five months now. He's a sweetheart and he sleeps soundly through the night. He's also very smart. My Dad has a labradoodle named Bella and she's still a puppy who gets very excited whenever I go over to visit. When I was ten years old, I got my first dog whose name was Shannon and she was a golden retriever little river mix who was a loyal companion for me until her death in 2012. Now, I have Dexter and he gives me great joy every time I snuggle with him on the living room couch. He even puts his paw on my hand whenever he's lying on his back and sometimes, he lets me hold his paw while he's sitting on my lap. He also loves car rides now, even though he whimpers a little bit. My mom and I make him talk and he calls me his Sissy. Some of his favorite treats are Cheerios and blueberries and what ever scraps we can give him. He even gives me kisses with his little tongue while I give him hugs.

All dogs (hell animals period) are great which makes lists like this so hard. Honestly, many of the breeds mentioned here are favorites but ones not mentioned:
Chihuahuas. I know they get a bad rep, but honestly, we've owned a few and they were nothing like people make them out to be. As with every breed: train your dog. It goes a long way.
Greyhounds and Italian Greyhounds. Just something about them I love. Beautiful dogs.
Pitbulls. Another breed with a bad rep. Again, training! I hate the people who have done what they have to make the breed have the reputation it does. Every Pitbull I have ever known has been the sweest, most loving dog.

I had two duchunds in my younger life whom were both very lovable and good boys now I got a Germand Shepherd mix breed whom loves me and helps protects me along with a full bred German Shepherd and a Corgi and a Labrador (these three actually belongs to my neighbors but they always come over and visit and stay over with me and loves me uncontrollably. I don't know what is it about me but sometimes stray dogs seems to visit my house and never wants to leave me alone. They say dogs choose whom they want as their owners and. I don't know I guess I must give them some kind of vibe they like about me.

All my dogs are Indian pye dogs. They are hands down the most underrated breed ever. Very easily trainable, good with family and kids without any training, they are good gaurd dogs. More than 5000 years old. They also come in various colors and coats. But due to their unpopularity, most of them end up being strays. I would request anyone who is willing and capable to adopt an Indian pye dog aka desi kutta, instead of opting for a breed from abroad.

Life-long dog lover and owner. Personally, dachshunds should have made the top 5 as they like beagles are personality packed little scent hounds. I cannot think of a more enthusiastic group of dog owners than dachshund owners. We have beagles and a dachshund that are just the most awesome pack. Having experience with most of the breeds on the list, I would only rank a few breeds lower because the human overbreeding and inbreeding.

When I was about 5 years old my family had a mongrel named Freddie dog that used bite me when I accidentally step on his toes when he was put to sleep I said this to Freddie he was not a very good dog luckily I have had the pleasure of having three amazing dogs I have a lagotto romagnolo I have had it for three years a very crazy wacky (a little annoying) but a great dog overall and the one good thing about the pandemic

I agree with most of this list, but id take husky off. Though they're very loving companions their energy and separation anxiety are not for most ppl. It takes a certain type of family/lifestyle to own one happily and well. Boxers are also very similar in that they need a LOT of exercise or they'll tear up everything in sight. Too many boxers and huskies are surrendered to shelters because people cant handle them.

I have two Beautiful Beagles now, but in the past we grew up with two German shepherds, one a retired police dog. We also had a Rottweiler too, unfortunately she was possessive of me and was rough with my 1 year old daughter. So I had to re home her. My grandma raised and breed Dobermans they were sweet and loving dogs!

I had a St. Bernard/Wolf mix for near 13 years and he will forever be my big clumsy boy, I miss him so much, and yes, he was massive. I also owned two short hair border collies and would definitely own more, such smart dogs with such interesting personalities, and yes, extremely energetic, water lovers.

As someone who owns a beagle, I can confirm everything said about them in this video is 100% true. If you have a beagle or are planning to get one, do not leave your food unattended because they will eat anything no matter what it is! Ive experienced this with my beagle and it was not the best

my 1st dog, which I was given at Christmas when I was 5, was a dachshund named Fritz. Now, in my 70s and many beloved companions later, I share my life with Hamish, who is a Norfolk Terrier. I can't imagine how empty my life would have been without their love and companionship.

Pomeranian
Papillon
Jack Russel
Dachshund
French Bulldog
American Bully
Pitbull
These dogs must be on the list.
I didn't include Chihuahua and Chowchow even if they are really because admit it or not, MOST (but not all) of them are very moody.

I have 2 Corgis, I have had a lot of different types of dogs. I have also have had a Coyote and at another time a Wolf. They both were very sweet babies, as are the Corgis I now have. My oldest Corgi raised a cat that now thinks he is a Corgi, so I call him a Corgicat.
reply

Why isn't my favorite dog ever mentioned in any of the top 10 or 15 or even 20 best breeds the Alaskan Malamute their kind gentle with kids their even called the best babysitter. So please add them to your list. Thank you.
reply

Pitbull should've been on the list. Another breed that has a bad reputation because of bad owners. I've never had a bad encounter with a pitbull and that's why they're one of my favorite breeds.
reply

How could you leave out pit bulls? They get a very bad rep. They are the most loyal, sweetest dogs, and they are the best snugglers. There is no love quite like pittie love.
reply

So tough to make a list like this. They are all very awesome! For every person there is a dog unless they dislike them or are of course allergic
reply

Pugs shouldn't be here, they're genetic disasters and live their lives in suffering. If u care about animal well being you shouldn't buy them
reply

My beagle is the sweetest and most loving girl ever. I know I'm biased but she is the best dog ever. I love being a beagle mom!
reply

Entertaining video! I look forward to the list of exceptional companion dogs which would list the greyhound in the top five.
reply

My dog Luna is half beagle and she is super vocal as well as tubby. She loves to give me kisses but she also has no boundaries.
reply

So you seriously thought adding unhealthy breeds like pugs and bulldogs to a list of best breeds was a good idea? C'mon.
reply

I have owned dachshunds most of my life. They are stubborn little a holes, but they have always loved me unconditionally.
reply

I first got a chihuahua against my will, but they are outstandingly loyal, intelligent and loving dogs. I have 3 now.
reply

Aww while Im a cat person I do like small dog breeds. Makes me want to go and adopt me a shitzu or a chihuahua: )
reply

Beagles are great dogs! And that is true and I compare my beagle (Chloe) to Snoopy and she is indifferent to it!
reply

I love dogs. We want to get one for our 7 year old autistic son and are thinking of lab or golden retriever.
