Cher! Shes the pop icon with over six decades of ongoing success and over one hundred million record sales! In this countdown weve ranked the 10 best Cher songs, including Song for the Lonely, Strong Enough, Gypsys, Tramps and Thieves, If I Could Turn Back Time and Believe and All or nothing Believe was inescapable around 1998-2000, as in it was played seemingly everywhere. It was also noteworthy as perhaps the first huge hit to feature the use of auto-tune, which might have been innovative at the time, but is now 24 years later so commonplace as to be extremely annoying. Cher had/has/does have a great voice which was enhanced on that song, but these days you don't really have to be a good singer - just feed it through auto-tune (and pro-tools) and anyone can be made to sound good.

1 Corinthians 15: 1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The real Queen of pop
I know that Madonna where around in the the 80s, when Michael Jackson where around.
But lets just face it. She couldnt sing and she couldnt dance.
Cher on the other hand could sing, she where around for fricking 60 years, her songs where amazing and so on and so on.
That title should have gone to Cher, not that untalented woman that only got famous for her appearance
But Cher on the third hand destroyed music

My parents really SHOULD have known I was a gay boy in the 80s with as much as I loved Cher! If youve not seen the Adam Lambert version of Believe that he performed at the Kennedy Center Honors, please check it out. A wonderful tribute to her. Btw, my all-time favorite of her videos is I Walk Alone, not just because its a great song but because it is an incredible collection of pictures of her throughout her life. Amazing!

I saw this legend in concert two years ago. Great show! I love how she still brings it. plus her sense of humor is amazing. It's no surprise she gelled in Moonstruck and won that coveted Oscar.

Cher is one of rare artist who can change genre completely and sounds good. For example if i could back time and believe are nothing alike yet they are so good
reply

She's done it every decade since the 60's and been a TV and movie star, won an Oscar and has been a consistent live performer now well into her 70's.

I think Save Up All Your Tears at least deserved to be an honorable mention, it's the very first song I've heard that made me cry.
reply

Hmmmm I think that the video of if I could turn back time did more to promote the necessity of the brazillion wax then anything else.

there will never ever be another cher. her mannerisms, her demand for your attention, her charisma, her confidence like damn.

Honestly the woman is allowed to use auto tune. Shes been using her vocals since the damn 1960's. Shes earned her right.

One thing about this list(although it probably would not be consider a Cher song) her cover of Walking In Memphis!

Is there any other singer on the planet who is such successful for more than 50 Years? (Except maybe Tom Jones)
reply

Laura's version of I Found Someone is a lot better. She put her heart and soul in that song. R. I. P. Laura!

Wasn't Nancy Sinatra 's version of Bang Bang played on Kill Bill(not sure if it was in Vol 1 or Vol 2.
