Blind Dog Spent 6 Years Spinning In A Shelter Kennel Then This Happened Adoption Day
video description
so until this dogs have retained this ability to read our emotional output, they may not know what we are saying besides a few important key words, look at my dog, when ever anyone says lets go at home, he runs to the door hoping to come where ever we are planning on going, nobody taught him that he just knows from experience when we say the phrase lets go he is off like a shot to the door hoping to come along, but the point is he learned this on his own nobody taught this to him, he taught himself, when someone is leaving the dog does not jump up and run to the door hoping to go with them, he stays on the bed or couch, if a friend says im going, there is no reaction from him, but if we say lets go he leaps of the bed or couch and dashes to the door hoping to tag along, whats the difference between im going and lets go, the dog certainly knows the difference, even when every thing is the same, say we say lets go to the supermarket or something, the dog will be up on his feet before we have even stood up, now when a friend says im going and proceeds to leave and i follow to show them out the only difference, in the words lets go and im going, in both scenarios the physical actions are the same, lets go then we both stand up and head for the front door, and for im going, we both stand up and head for the front door, one time we are both leaving out the front door, the other i am seeing someone to the front door, the only difference between lets go and im going is the dogs reaction, lets go will cause him to spring to his feet and im going he will just lay their, even though both scenarios cause us to both stand up and walk together to the front door, so the dog understands the difference between lets go (out ) and im leaving ( now ) one causes him to spring to his feet and cut us off at the door, and the other has a null response even when we both stand up and head for the door in both scenarios, clever dog!

Have a dog (pit bull/American Stafford who is all muscle and has crazy powerful jaws) who went from Glaucoma to having her eyes taken out in 2021. She has mapped the house and the back yard and can always find the deck stairs to get to the deck to be let inside. She knows where her water is and can go up and down a deck with 15 stairs without any issues. She knows that the words left and right mean. She knows what step up and step down mean. She knows where to be when it is time to eat and goes straight to the kitchen when I say wanna treat She loves going for walks and will always stay on the sidewalk except when she takes a couple of steps on to grass. She is just like any other dog save for the fact that she cannot see and that has not slowed her down a bit

I am beyond annoyed! First of all, spending years in a kennel! - and then being blind as well! Any seeing dog will end up spinning like that in a kennel - just imagine the dreadful kennel stress. I've worked with and seen dogs who could see and hear just spin and spin, regardless of what was going through those precious mind. I'm saying this with sincerity, it was MORE cruel to have her in that shelter for even longer than a few months, then decide on the option of euthanasia. It's kinder. People freak out just hearing that word BUT pro-life is quality of life. Disgusting and shame that she was left like that

I have to say something that isn't going to be very popular, but let me see if the outset that even for human beings, I don't believe that life should be clung to no matter how much of the quality of it you've lost. There is a point where it's enough, and each of us have to decide when that is and be offered help to do it peacefully and painlessly. It's lovely that this dog had a good outcome, but I have to say that while in general, I support no kill shelters, I think that it is sadistic to leave an animal blind, spinning in circles, and living in a shelter for six years.

After having 5 dachshunds for the last 30 years ( they were all rescued babies and lived to 17 years old, always had in pairs) I ended up with a runt pitbull (l I'll was her nanny) My Sheba is the most beautiful loving, biggest goober, loves everyone dog! Yes, she will protect me without hesitation if you are threatening me ( happened twice. Most of my neighbors love her. she's changed alot of ppls minds on pitties, probably because she loves everyone and is a goofball! Have a wonderful weekend with your 4 legged baby!

I’ve seen more than dozens of pit bull stories. I think it’s time pit bulls were renamed to something that no longer connotes vicious’. And no, I’m a Chihuahua owner. A loving dog just doesn’t deserve to be treated like they were some sort of monster just because of their name. BTW Chihuahuas are not little yapping tornadoes either.

I honestly couldn't figure out why no one came for her. She's learned to be a dog in the past few years. She begs for food and scritches. She's loving life and she had a little boyfriend our pug. He passed away so now we have a dog we're training as a service dog. So soon when they figure it out she'll have a brother.

Great thanks to Elijah for keeping Vickie alive until she found a loving forever home. Great thanks to the mother and daughter who gave Vickie a loving forever home. Heartwarming story that restores one's faith that kind people still dwell among us.

So long in the shelter, she got lucky thanks to this sweet woman and daughter. at the same time I here the other dogs barking so sad to I can't stand dogs behind closed shelter doors
Hopefully they will also get there out soon

With blind animals you can put some different, safe, small amounts of oils on the lower door frames for the animal to figure out which room is where it is. Each room will smell different as they enter it. Hope that helps.

Thank you for saving Vicky. We are in the process of adopting a blind & deaf 16&half years of age dog: so we will have five rescue dogs. It is difficult but he has been with us for 5weeks & needs to live out his life in comfort.

People relinquish and abandon their animals for the most unacceptable reasons. Thank god they aren’t all like that. I’m glad this dog got the life that it deserves.

Lovely lovely people! Car drives are so good for talking, especially to teens. My son gets lifts he really doesn't need so I get to chat daily.

As heartwarming as this is, I did crack up a bit when she asked the blind dog if she wanted to see her new home.

How could you possibly abandon your dog because they go blind, when they need you the most! Evil is real.
