Nurse sharks are not harmless, but they are more placid than some other shark species. However, if you mess with them too much, they WILL bite youmost nurse shark attacks are provoked, meaning the person initiated contact with the shark and the shark bit either defensively or curiously. Though very rare, there have also been unprovoked nurse shark attacks. (Very few for how often they come into contact with humans, but still) As always, exercise caution around wildlife. These sharks are clearly acclimated to human (and dog) contact but they are still wild animals, and one should always respect them as such.

People need to realize that there are more than 500 known shark species and not just the handful swimming meatgrinders everybody knows. However calm nurse sharks appear, they do bite humans as a defensive reaction. Apparently so frequently, they're ranked 4th in the bite statistics, according to a citation referenced on wikipedia. Of course, such statistics can be skewed because of many more interactions between divers and nurse sharks than other, more aggressive sharks.

What a beautiful area.
I have never seen this before. A dog that swims with sharks. Unbelievable. If the animal world can get along with different species I wonder why humans can't. They are showing us a valuable lesson.
This is just amazing.

I don't know, I like defending sharks, I do it all the time, but after The Dodo's report on the Husky friend of a polar bear and knowing that the bear ate the dog, I don't feel comfortable watching them make this type of videos of unusual friendships

I guess in paradise, everything tries to get along with one another. Everything is chill, nobody feels like fighting or eating each other, and Jimmy Buffett is always playing in the background.

Wow A dog best friends with sharks lovely story of sharks not being betrayed as Bloodthirsty monsters but I did not expect this Sometimes There can be very strange and lovely friendships

I learned quite a bit from a scuba diving owner. He swims with them.
He said they bite when waters are murky and they get confused.
Also some types are harmless.
So there's that.

These are the type of people that let their newborn baby play with a boa constrictor, or take their children to one of those Drag Queen strip shows. I cant shake my damn head enough.

Fantastic Dodo! Please more of these. IN a world that feels increasingly unstable, mean and unfair, these minutes of love between animals and humans is re-energizing for my soul.

That’s too cool I wonder if the saltwater burns the doggo’s eyes. Speaking h of water could you imagine waking up to that water everyday It looks absolutely gorgeous there.

I think doing this is not bright. These sharks are tolerating the dog not making friends with it. I think it’s only a matter of time before they decide to eat the dog.

Idk about this. Sharks are still wild animals. All it takes is one day when that shark gets hungry or is in a bad mood. How about have your dog play w/ other dogs

This is so amazing and unbelievable. This proves that nothing is impossible in this world, to make it possible you need to have love and trust in your heart.

I wish they said where this was. So much tranquility. I'm going to make a wild guess and say French Polynesia but that still isn't very specific. What a place.

this is cute but somehow seems like a bad idea. One day a real shark is gonna wander in there and everybody gonna go hey, where's the kids and the dog
reply

I'm going there! Definitely. My son and I would love this Nurse sharks Who knew, right Animals are such marvels as is all of God's creations

Okay we've had some crazy bonds between species in dodo videos before, but this might take the price. A dog and a shark. Never thought i'd see it.
reply

Nurse sharks are generally considered to be among the more docile shark species and are not typically aggressive towards humans unless provoked
