Here is everything wrong with this video.
I know I'm a year late but I just came upon this video and I had to address how there won't be a Latina princess joining the franchise.
Disney created specific rules for the Disney Princesses when they created the franchise.
The rules is that in order to become a Disney Princess, the character will have to be female, have been born into royalty, married into royalty, or did a heroic act, they also have to have an animal sidekick.
But the one MAJOR rule is that the character can't be featured in a sequel of a movie. They have to have their own movie.
This Latina princess will be featured in a sequel so she won't be able to become a Disney princess.
It would have been great for the franchise to become more diverse, but sadly that won't ever happen unless the character has her own movie.

Elena is spanish the white version of the latina/hispanic i would rather have a hispanic princess movie based in Mexico or South America maybe princess of a native hispanic tribe. I just want something the hispanic kids can relate to and say that's my culture thats our history.

Honestly, I hope its not Elena. She doesn't even have an specific country! Other princesses are Scottish, Danish, Chinese and so many more. I'm Mexican, but I wouldn't even care if she wasn't Mexican, just a princess with a given country, I don't think its too much to ask

The Polynesian islands are in a fair distance from Mexico and South America. And since Moana takes place 3000 yrs ago and it's true that Polynesians have traveled to those areas before, it would make since if Moana met a girl from one of those ancient civilizations.

I was really waiting for Elena to have a more colorful dress, like catrinas, but oh well, I really like the name they gave her. Most people think the only Mexican names we have are: Juan, Pablo, Miguel, Bryan. But I do like that they gave her an unique name.

The FIRST latina Disney princess is Cinderella because shes from France and France is a latin country. Or maybe do you mean latin americana if thats what you mean then that will probably be the first latin americana disney princess.

I feel that there should be two separate movies. A Latina princess deserves her own movie, and a Moana sequel should be about her. I like that Disney is starting to include culture. ( my favorite princess in Tiana)
reply

Elena from avalor does not count we need a real Latina/ Hispanic princess with real culture. Really representing us. Our own movie. Moana has her culture in her movie. You can see customs in mulan.
reply

This is fine and all but she deserves her own movie, if its gonna take them this long to make a Latina princess then she at least deserves more recognition then to just be part of a sequel

Some rumors say that this Latina princess could be Moana's love interest. Infact Disney is thinking about an LGBT princess. I'm not sure about it but some rumors say so
