The Original Series POKMON: Detective Pikachu combines CGI characters with live action human characters who are tasked with solving a mystery. The feel of the trailer is an alternate universe compared to the original twodimensional Pokmon anime worlds. In the vein of classic detective movies, there is a sort of modern filmnoir feel, but with a lot more neon. Fans might be a bit weirded out by the trailers and the fact that Pikachu can talk, but they arent completely rejecting the premise. The overall reaction has been a cautiously optimistic one. Its going to be interesting to see the Pokmon world come to life in a photorealistic sort of way. Not to mention the fact that Pikachu will share a voice with Marvel superhero Deadpool, who is also voiced by actor Ryan Reynolds. And even though Ash Ketchum seems to be absent from this film, there are a lot of other fanfavorite characters making an appearance. The trailer is packed with hilarious gags and jokes, as well as some mindblowing action sequences. So how different is Detective Pikachu from the original anime? I'm glad Ash doesnt show up. I don't want any of the anime in here, I want it to be it's own story.
There's so much good content in the games alone, as well as the manga (Pokmon Special, none of which contain Ash. Honestly, the anime has botched a lot of basic things such as type match ups and how attacks work.

0: 32. he did not go to look for his dad and find out what happened. he just went there to pick up some stuff and say goodbye. until he met pikachu who convinced him to stay and find out what happened. . please get your story right smh.

I wish Meowth, Onix, Raichu, Wartortle, Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Infernape, Blaziken, Electivire, Buizel, and Sceptile could've been in Detective Pikachu
