Whether its through stunts, camera techniques, or even just some simple fishing string these practical effects go a long way. After you see some of these films behind the scenes footage, you wont be able to look at these iconic scenes the same way again. Well be showing you examples from huge blockbuster hits like Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, Mary Poppins Returns, and even Iron Man. Remember Reys instant bread from Star Wars the Force Awakens? That was an actual concoction the production team work three months on. But sometimes these practical effects arent as safe as instant bread and involve things like skydiving and wallscaling to get the desired effect but its always worth it in the end. Are you ready to find out more? Tell us what movie magic moment was the most shocking for you in the comment section below. Make sure to hit that subscribe button and give this video a huge thumbs up. Thanks for watching and well see you in another video

7: 48 That Fast 5 scene was filmed on the real streets. of San Juan PR. While it meant about three weeks of traffic problems in the areas they were filming, including one of the bridges that was over the San Juan Bay, the people on the island. didn't mind it at all. In fact. the movie The Losers was filmed complete on the island.
(FYI: I have been living on the island since 2002, so I know the facts here. since it is known weeks before the flim crew get to the island. and to cast locals as extras in the flim)

You say the Deathstar exploding was all practical then show a shot with a ring coming out of the explosion which was a cgi addon for the 1997 special edition. The original version did not have the ring.
The ring was a copy of the Praxis explosion ring in Star Trek VI and the idea came from dropping a lit match into a circle of invisible gas. It was then recreated in cgi as they couldn't film it at the angles they wanted.

The first time I saw the use of a rotating set was in MTV's Making the Video for NSYNC's song Bye Bye Bye maybe 10 yrs before Inception. So when I saw they used the same trick in the movie, I was like I knew it!

It's called forced perspective not forced perception.
Will Ferrell had to sit closer to the camera not farther from it to look bigger in Elf.
It's exactly as it looks. Not exactly as it looks like cringe

Practical effects are so much better. They stand the test of time. Early CGI was aweful. Im looking at you Blade Lood Demon and Werewolf in Paris. Where as A New Hope still looks really good.

A lot of people think the Xenomorph in David Fincher's Alien 3 was CGI, but that's only true when its skull cracked. If they bothered to watched the behind the scenes, they'd see the puppet

Force Perception is a haptic thing, like knowing how tightly you need to grab something in order to lift it. Forced Perspective is what they used in Lord of the Rings and Elf.

Forced perspective is how I made my train layouts look four times larger than they really were, but that was before I went down a few sizes.

As fantastic as CGI can be, and it will no doubt continue to improve, it will never be the be-all and end-all of movie visual effects.

Bane and the plane crash were in The Dark Knight Rises not The Dark Knight. if you're going to mention a film please get the right film.
