Actors Painful Prosthetics And Makeup In All The Spider-Man Movies

The SpiderMan franchise has been known to boast a colorful and memorable batch of characters, from Spideys illustrious rogues gallery, to his friends and family, and of course the webhead himself. Though in order to give these characters their iconic looks, many of the actors behind the roles had to first sacrifice their comfort. Whenever Tom Holland put on his Spider suit, he was unable to use his phone, he couldnt drink water, he had to plan his bathroom breaks 45 minutes in advance, and weirdest of all the only article of clothing he could wear underneath his costume was a thong. Andrew Garfield felt extremely uncomfortable in his spandex Spider suit and even felt that he was overexposed. Tobey Maguire recounts receiving wedgies in the black symbiote Spider suit in SpiderMan 3. Though it wasnt just the three SpiderMen who were uncomfortable with their circumstances, with even many of the villain actors having to bear through some painful prosthetics and costumes. Dane DeHaans Green Goblin suit weighed around 50 pounds and took an hour just to put on which was after he had to go through an over three hour long makeup process to get the look down. Willem Dafoe had to wear dental prosthetics so that his jaw could actually look more normal to portray the nefarious, egomaniacal, insane billionaire supervillain Norman Osborne aka the Green Goblin in the 2002 SpiderMan flick. While these costumes, makeup, and prosthetics may have been uncomfortable at first, many of the actors thought it paid off in the end, especially since they got their chance to shine on the big screen
