The Umbrella Academy has some high powered scenes, brought on by the Hargreeves family unleashing their unique set of powers. A lot of CGI was used to create the stunning visuals we see on screen. The VFX team had their hands full for this show. From fully CGI chimpanzees, to jelly like effects, The Umbrella Academy wouldn t be the same without the incredibly talented VFX teams that worked on the show. Some scenes look completely different without any visual effects, while for other scenes you may be surprised to learn how much was actually practical. There was one character that required two actors to bring to life! Who do you think it was?
When you have an entire house full of super powered individuals, there is bound to be plenty of CGI effects. Even something that may seem simple, like five teleporting through time, actually took a lot of research and development from the VFX team to get just right. And characters like AJ and Pogo are obviously created with CGI, but just how much? One of them was created with a lot more practical effects than you may think!
When you see the behind the scenes work that went into creating The umbrella Academy, you will begin to appreciate every scene. From the prop makers to the CGi artists, it all came together to create the visually beautiful show we have now.
Trina: The CGI is very impressive in this show, especially with Pogo. Ken Hall, who did the motion capture for Pogo in the first series, later appeared as Herb. Date: 2022-06-20
