Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was a challenge for actors and stunt performers alike. Morfydd Clark had to navigate a tricky underwater scene that resulted in her being tied up. Owain Arthur had to deal with his boiling-hot beard and costume. They both played a role in overheating him.
One stunt actor wound up with an injury that was life-threatening despite being considered too small to count at first and wound up needing immediate emergency surgery. Another stunt actor severely injured themself in the water so bad there was a Go Fund Me page created by legendary New Zealand actor, Lucy Lawless. And one more stunt actor was so frustrated with the safety on set that after he was injured he just decided to quit.
This guy had told people what he was doing was unsafe and no one would listen. The Harfoot feet were annoying for the actors to get used to as they d stumble about. There are plenty of injuries stunt performers were vocal about and many that went untold by the stunt performers. Health and safety is essential but sometimes artists will prioritize getting the job done over their own physical and mental health.
Learning to ride a horse was not on the bucket list for Morfydd, given her mom s bad childhood experience but Morfydd was determined to do this job right. On top of all that there was a silly hybrid sport being played by the cast that resulted in Ismael Cruz C rdovaand Morfydd Clark of care.
Lord: The production design was beautiful. The cast did a great job as well. As with many other things, a vocal minority of fans with archaic views were excited to see this show fail, because it doesn't replicate their personal fantasy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they captured the tone and essence of the books, with a sense of gravitas that gave way to a grittier reality with more adult themes. Date: 2022-09-17
