Hickman is the reason I stopped reading comics. Comics nowadays are not that much interesting. The reason is simple. People, adults mainly are taking it too seriously. We started reading comics as kids. The recipe was simple. Good vs Evil. They were fun. Comics are dying simply because kids cannot read them anymore. Just like a gritty eagier Star Wars. The Geek culture messed the whole thing up. Overtly complex and restrictive storylines make things totally un accessible for a lot of people. If you visit a comicon you have more people in their 40's 50's than kids. It is what happened with star wars. The reason it died is because it was incomprehensible. The movie that was closer to the original trilogy was Solo.

They-re good villains, but only half of them are new. The rest are just old villains with new titles or mantles (The Red Goblin, Carnage, Kindred, Blake, etc.
