Why don't marvel and dc make original gay characters instead of retconning existing characters to be gay?
Short answer: because they don't really care! Most of the current comic book creators have zero integrity
and think these characters have zero integrity too.
Why don't they care? Short answer: Because no one buys marvel and dc comic books anymore.
It's easier to say, -this character is gay now! -(for twitter clout) than to develop a new gay character that everyone
actually enjoys, relates to, and buys. They NEED that superman logo on the cover, because these, cheap, creatively
bankrupt ideas would never stand on their own.
You may clap like seals getting a fish when you see this garbage, but sales prove that you are not buying it either.

Soooo. Magik is not confirmed, there is only suspicion, which made it into a top 9 list. But Hercules 12025 is a bonus character, turning it back into a top 10 list (Herc has been hinted at being attracted to men in 616 for a very short time, then got retconned by some writer guy nobody cares about who disapproved!
Now they should totally make multiple man attracted to men. and himself. You could fill an extra large size book with just one scene.

reply

Oh yeah: Lightspeed from Power Pack. Attracted to men and women if I remember right. And Thundra. Mankiller. Black Cat is a maybe. a future scene disclosed it, but since futures are alll alternate timelines it technically doesn't count. Valkyrie. Not the current one, the previous one. Karolina Dean from The Runaways.

I legitimately believe tim drake should be a gay or at least bi character also wiccan and hulkling are my favorite couple in all of marvel gay or straight. They are just so damn cute together - I really wish there was more going on with them in the comics. Have they been in anything lately?
reply

Iceman being gay is something recent they came up with. To add variety. Karma is actually very understandable after being assaulted by pirates escaping communist Vietnam. Magic is just insane, has been for a decade.
reply

Karma was a victim of the Vietnam War? How old is she anyway? (Yeah, I know about the sliding timeline, which is why no one talks about Reed Richards-s service in WWII)
reply

Wolverine is bi now
It has been hinted he's in a trouple with Jean and Scott, and I love it. I was so tired of the love triangle that didn't go anywhere.

I believe not only is Ilyana pan, I also believe she is poly. That little demon may never settle down. Friends to the end, but probably never exclusive.

I'll never be mad a character is gay but I'm mad Daken is like a hero now. I loved him as a villain and his character was may more bada$$.
reply

I knew about almost all of them except for Karma. I didn't know about Karman because I didn't really read any comics with them in it.
