What is appropriate is subjective. Jim Henson was asked when he was filming the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth why the films were scary if the were meant for kids and he replied, Kids need to be scared a little, it helps them grow. They learn not to be afraid of things they don't understand. That things may seem scary but they aren't going to get hurt. This is something that has become lost in the modern day. Too much stuff is censored or sanitized for kids and they don't learn how the world really is and have no way of coping with it.

Grave of The Fireflies is absolutely not for kids. The others are PG or G (albeit falsely) or a few PG13. But Grave Of The Fireflies is animation for grown ups
Another one to add here is Amour and Monsieur Lazhar
By the way I think a new Where The Wild Things Are could fix this problem. Maybe even make it animated and a musical

Just because something has mature themes or emotions doesn't mean it's not for children, kids have to learn to deal with those emotions somehow, or else they'll grow up emotionally stunted. Bridge to Terabithia is literally a kids book, I ready it in school when I was like 12, it's a kids or young adult movie.

I watched Terabithia back when I was in like 6th grade and while I was never one to cry at movies at all, that movie was really sad. That scene where a giant troll that looks like the bully Janice saves Jesse after the kids had became friends with the real Janice was a beautiful moment

I remember the controversy when somebody messed up and put Sausage party trailer before the Finding Dory screening. Good times Also, Pan's labyrynth deserve a mention. It felt like some kids fairy tale then the scene with the farmers came on the screen.

I’m kind of surprised Fantasia didn’t get mentioned. There were parts in it that I wouldn’t say are suitable for kids such as the Night on Bald Mountain scene, the extinction of the dinosaurs, and lady parts being shown uncensored.

Grave of the Fireflies literally broke me heart. I couldn't stop crying and haven't watched it again since. The movie was a masterpiece showing the ugliness of war and feelings of helplessness, sad but beautiful.

It’s funny because Bridge of Terebithia Disney originally wanted to not have the little girl’s death in it and asked can’t she live and the author’s family said no.

Willy wonka is definitely a kids movie sorry, it teaches kids not to be a greedy, snobby, pain in the ass, which makes it one of the most important kids movies

Even if I were the voice of reason to prohibit any children under 10 from watching _Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, _ they likely wouldn’t listen.

Mr Magorium’s wonder emporium is also one of those movies that looks like a typical children’s movie, but has a ton of deep and sad lessons and themes.

Good list. Others I would suggest are: 1) Meet the Feebles, 2) The Mouse and His Child, 3) The King and the Mockingbird, 4) Fantastic Planet, 5) Barefoot Gen

The headless horseman from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad looks scary and cool, but my question is does anybody knows who has voiced the character

Bridge to Terabithia, when Disney realized their death count was to high. in age. They could kill them younger.
Always think of the NC review

They're just fine for kids unless your name is Ned Flanders. I grew up with several of these and enjoyed them. Stop treating kids like babies.

I'd read Bridge to Terebithia as a kid. When I saw the trailer I knew people would be pissed. They marketed it as a fantasy film. It wasn't.
