9. But then. Age of Extinction and The Last Knight were somehow even worse. Thankfully, 2018's Bumblebee would buck the downward trend and become a beloved installment. As this prequel/reboot was NOT directed by Michael Bay. Instead, Travis Knight (The director of Kubo and The Two Strings) helmed the project.
6. Thankfully, Dark Fate was MUCH BETTER recieved than both Salvation and Genysis. As it pulled a Halloween (2018, where it ignored the continuing installments and started over from a different point in the series timeline. But by that point, the damage was already done. The Terminator franchise fell out of favor and as a result, Dark Fate suffered at the box office. It basically suffered the same fate as Megaman X8 and Megaman X Command Mission, as those both bombed in sales due to a previous installment (in this case, Megaman X7) doing poorly with audiences.
4. Ressuections ended the franchise on a stronger note. It was a lot better than Revolutions.
H. M. 2: The franchise was revived with Superman Returns in 2006. And it also pulled a Halloween (2018) or Terminator Dark Fate by resetting continuity. Unlike those films, it ended up being pretty ho-hum. My biggest problem with it is simple: ITS. BORING.
H. M. 4: The events of this film effectively unravels the franchise's own continuity, meaning the events of the film and the characters that died couldn't have happened given said continuity errors. And this especially sucks since THIS IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE THE EVENTS OF THE FIRST X-MEN MOVIE! It's gotten to the point where many people don't even consider the film canon. Plus, it definitely doesn't help that the villains in Dark Phoenix are easily, WITHOUT QUESTION, the most bland, boring, and unremarkable villains in the entire series. So much so that I still don't know their names, they're so unmemorable.

Dishonorable Mentions;
Multiple Direct-To-Video Disney Sequels
-During the late 90s to 2000s, Disney released an avalanche of Direct-To-Video Sequels to their animated films and they were very much a gamble when it came to quality. Sometimes we got something good, sometimes we got something mediocre, and sometimes we got something bad. And sadly, mediocre and bad tended to be more common than good. Because for every good sequel like Aladdin: King of Thieves, An Extremely Goofy Movie, and both Lion King Sequels, we got stinkers like Mulan 2, Belle's Magical World, or Hunchback of Notre Dame 2.
The Legend of Zorro
-It hurts that the same people from The Mask of Zorro were involved with this. The characters are idiots who don't learn anything, the plot and writing were way too silly, the action is too cartoonish and outlandish, the drama isn't interesting, the whole entire movie just feels like it was written by a child.
Multiple Sequels To Live-Action Cartoon Adaptations
-Scooby-Doo 2, The Smurfs 2, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, and all the Alvin and the Chipmunks sequels are all offenders. The first of their films were already bad as is, who thought a sequel was necessary
The Secret of NIMH 2
-I get that the first film was dark, scary and traumatizing. But this sequel pulled a Joel Schumacher by being too much of the opposite extreme. By stripping the darkness and intrigue of the first movie, it also stripped away what made The Secret of NIMH such a great movie. Just remember, one extreme can be just as bad as the other.

The fact that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Terminator: Dark Fate, and The Matrix Resurrections are not even mentioned completely invalidates this Top 10 list, in my opinion.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a subpar movie when compared to the original trilogy, but it was at least a far better ending to Indy’s story than the garbage fire that was Dial of Destiny.
Terminator: Genisys is bad, no doubt about that. But Dark Fate was another level of awfulness. Killing off John Connor, who had been essential to the franchise from the beginning, and replacing him with a teenage female version for what proved to be Future War 2. 0 was just terrible storytelling.
The Matrix Revolutions left a lot to be desired, that is true. But Resurrections was even less satisfying as a continuation, what with the concept of both Neo and Trinity being brought back as a completely unnecessary storyline that will likely never get a sequel, considering the box office numbers.
Oh, and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace and X-Men: Dark Phoenix being presented as honorable mentions
WatchMojo, really

Terminator Genisys isn’t a sequel, it’s a reboot and Transformers: The Last Knight is way worse than Revenge of the Fallen. And here’s what you should’ve put on the list
1. Batman & Robin (1997)
2. Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)
3. Jaws: The Revenge (1987)
4. Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)
5. Son of the Mask (2005)
6. Caddyshack II (1988)
7. Highlander II: The Quickening (1991)
8. Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
9. Zoolander 2 (2016)
10. X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)

Dial of Destiny was WAY worse than Crystal Skull, and Dark fate was WAY worse than genesys, but i feel that Rise of Skywalker should have been on this list, yes tge last jedi had problems, but we were ready to accept them if they actually followed through on them, instead, they went in a completely different direction which only made it worse, and bringing back Palpatine as the villain was the final nail in the coffin.

Warriors Of Virtue 2 Return To Tao (2002) Now Warriors Of Virtue (1997) was not freaking TMNT good but It was a gosh darn entertaining movie the sequel aside from Kevin Smith's death was much worse than Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo (1984) In my personal opinion also our titular character were not Kangaroo's which was disappointing In the long run should've made a cartoon Instead would've worked out better honestly

No Major League II (1994) Really BTW, Batman & Robin (1997, Jaws: The Revenge (1987, Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997, Son of the Mask (2005, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987, Zoolander 2 (2016, Highlander II: The Quickening (1991, Dark Phoenix (2019) and Caddyshack II (1988) are still not meant to be good.

Don’t get me wrong, I was disappointed that Will Smith couldn’t star in INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE and that Ben Stiller undid the happy of the original ZOOLANDER in the sequel while also not bring back Jerry Stiller and Jon Voight. But those two sequels are still a little underrated.

Revenge of the fallen was overrated for no reason in my option, the fallen was easily my favorite character across any of the movies. It’s a shame they didn’t give him more time to show case how powerful he truly has they shouldn’t have killed him off like they did

WOW, after all the times you've done this list. I'm amazed you left out YOUR favorite hated sequel, Mortal Kombat annihilation. and a number of these are better than numerous fast and furious, conjuring, blumhouse halloween ( even thought they're remakes) sequels.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I hated Terrifier 2. The first one was amazing, and what I loved about it so much is that they really don't tell you anything about Art, he's just a homicidal supernatural clown because. Reasons. Mystery is key in slashers.

Star Wars episodes VII-IX.
Their only merit was they made the prequels look like masterpieces. While The Force Awakens I saw in a movie theater, the two followups I wasn't able to watch in one go even at home, despite being a huge Star Wars fan. ;-(

I'm glad you left the Star wars sequels off of this list. While they're definitely not cinematic perfection, they aren't terrible either. I'm guessing they'll age well similarly to how the prequels did.

Terminator Genisis wasnt that bad, its a good way to reboot the series and use new actors while acknowledging that judgement day will always come
Dark Faith was by far worse in every way

Many of these suffer from the Let's release an unwanted and uneeded sequel years later with none or very few cast and crew from the movie prior. Resulting in a disconnected disjointed mess.
