Y’all should had added Godzilla (1954) in this! Even though Godzilla is more of a heroic character than a villain these days it is still important to remember that the original Godzilla film was a horror film in fact it was the scariest and most horrifying horror film of Japan to ever stomp the big screen of its day! besides starting a great legacy and given us the most legendary among cinematic icons the original Godzilla movie was a true nightmare to behold for 2 main reasons reason number 1 is that a lot of people thought Godzilla was a real life being when they first saw the movie back in the day when it was released there is one scene in the film when Godzilla attacks a movie theatre because of this people thought they were not watching a classic sci-fi horror flick they thought it was reality a lot of people panicked and scrambled out of the movie theatre and reason number 2 is the movies powerful message of the terrifying power and horrific consequences of nuclear weapons Godzilla wasn’t created because someone wanted to make a giant monster movie he was created because of the fears of atomic/ nuclear weapons thanks to Fat Man and Little Boy that hit Nagasaki and Hiroshima when those bombs hit a lot of people went into maximum hysteria overdrive they thought that the world was going to end and far more catastrophic consequences will emerged in a form of a bigger threat and so Godzilla was born into the world and this doesn’t imply to those bombs that hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki that day it implies to all nuclear and atomic weapons alike Godzilla isn’t just a giant atomic breathing dinosaur he is the message, he is the consequence and the punisher the message is this if we humans use nuclear power and atomic weaponry to gain power fatal and catastrophic consequences icons will emerge and punish the human race as we know it thus creating one of the most horrifying films and one of the most legendary movie ever born!

I know damn well you didn't put Pennywise at 20, John Kramer at 11 and didn't even list Hellpriest from Hellraiser but put Carrie friggin' White at number 9. Yawl be trippin!
Also, Hereditary is a horrible film, and Ari Aster is one of the worst directors ever. His other movie Midsommer is just a gender swap shitty version of Wicker Man that makes Cage's version look like a masterpeice. I will never understand why so many people stan for him and his trash movies.

I actually prefer the miniseries version of The Shining. Not just because it follows the book better (to be honest, neither film adaptation ends the way the book does, but because Steven Weber's descent into madness as Jack Torrance was more believable and realistic. Nothing against Jack Nicholson in the role. Just that he looked mad and creepy right from the beginning, which I feel takes away from the depiction of the character's descent over the course of the story.

This is all kinds of wrong. First of all, Anthony Hopkins was in 3 Hannibal movies: The Silence of the Lambs (1991, Hannibal (2001, and Red Dragon (2002. And also, Hannibal is a much more complex and rich character than Norman Bates, so he should be higher on the list. Finally, Freddy Krueger over Michael Myers And no Jason Voorhees on the list, but the mom from Hereditary makes the cut Oh please.

When Norman Bates was listed as number two, I was, like, Okay, I can only think of Jason Vorhees, but putting him above Bates, Ripley, Lector and Kruger would be insane. He nice they revealed number one, I was, like, Okay, that’s fair.

Can't believe Jason Vorhees is left off this list. That's a case of miscarraige of justice.
Also, Selene from the Underworld franchise and Ed & Lorraine Warren from the Conjuring franchise deserve honorable mentions.

I used to love horror movies as a kid when the bad guy dies. Now, they die until the next chapter and the next and the next! Took the satisfyingly end out of it! Also, hate the horribly gory ones.

I was torn between two characters that would be number 1 on this list Jason or Dracula. About two seconds before number 1 was revealed I decided that it was going to be Dracula. And I wasn’t disappointed

I don't know about the order of these characters, or if most of them should've made the top 20 list, considering how many great horror characters there have been throughout the last century.

OA Sydney Prescott Scream sequel should’ve gotten a number one, Ellen Ripley Alien sequel should’ve been number 3 and Charles Lee Ray Child’s Play sequel should’ve been at number two.

Count Dracula is the correct choice for #1 but where is Jason Voorhees, Candyman, Pinhead, Patrick Bateman, or Peter Cushing's Frankenstein They don't make it but Chris from Get Out does

Ghostface from the Scream’ movie franchise.
I’m surprised that the MK creators officially picked Ghostface as one of 6 final DLCs in the 2nd Mortal Kombat’ video game reboot.

If you're going to do a part 2 for this list, include Jason, The Critters, Jeepers Creepers, Pinhead, Herbert West and Santa Claus (there is a lot of killer Santa movies.

Sidney Prescott should be way higher than 19 she is easily my favourite final girl. Ash is my personal number 1 horror character as well, also no Jason Voorhees really

Freddy is my clear favorite. He was horrible when he was alive but even worse after he died. He is, for me, the greatest and most original horror icon of the last 50 years.

I bet cash money that you forgot one of the greats in horror movie characters. Matt Cordell from the Maniac Cop franchise is memorable on so many levels.
