Another Anime that could shock you. Is Pet Shop of Horrors. May be a 4-pt OVA, but it has moments that could give you nightmares for a week. Such as the 2nd episode where this guy is reunited with his wife, who he thought was dead. Only to be alive, while revealing to be a Mermaid, who he brings home, to his indoor pool. Later, she is revealed to be a Siren, a Mermaid who lures young man with a song, so they can eat them. The OVA may be dark, but the Manga is more lighthearted with humor.

I always recommend Shiki to friends. Cause man, that's such a great vampire themed series. Still my top 3 at least in horror. Might be one, but, man, Abyss was so close to top 10, no way it's 11
Another. Damn, don't give me flashbacks of that sequence. Damn umbrellas.
And yeah, you could have had 3 honorable mentions: Paranoia Agent, man. that's still trippy but good.

I didn’t keep up with Conan but I def didn’t think the early season where family friendly. There was so much murder going on and I love every second. Also the bandage guy dismember people lol. Does anyone know if the later episodes held the same mystery and murder solving Because I could def rewatch it

No disrespect to the effort put into this video but: How is Dark Gathering not in the list In my opinion it even deserves to be #1. It gets progressively better and darker as the story advances in every episode. Highly recommended. And it's probably THE anime that legitimately deserves to be called scary.

Interesting Fact: There are THREE Seasons of Ayakashi. Mononoke is the third one. The second season's last few episodes are the prologue of Ayakshi: Mononoke. Which is probably the best season of all, but the other two should also be remembered. Medicine Seller ran so Demon Slayers could walk.

Some of these weren't really scary. Elfen Lied, Parasyte, and Gantz: 0 were all fairly tame shows all things considered. They had scary elements, but they weren't enough of a focus. Also if this list is this tame, why isn't Berserk here

I think this list may be confusing scary for disturbing. More of the scarier entries are on the bottom on this list when more of the gore fests or disturbing imagery shows are near the top. Disturbing doesn't necessarily equate scary.

Hell Girl was the third horror anime I watched and it had me hooked. I binge watch it from time to time but I'm a HUGE fan of Junji Ito's works. And be warned, his stuff will give you nightmares.

Surprised none of the CC series made it on here, where there's deceit, dark history and gore around nearly every corner and the twist ending of CCPlus is definitely one most won't see coming.

Junji Ito collection nah xD some parts might scare you but overall it's mostly laughable. The Uzumaki adaptation does seem to bring the chills though!
