Hairdressers guide to coloring your own hair and not ruining it
video description
Someone said I would need to bleach my hair to open the cuticle of the hair to accept the semi-permanent.
I did a test on my hair & it didn't stay. I didn't bleach my white hair because I thought it should take on white hair.
A friend of mine said no. The cuticle isn't open on the hair when it is white.
So What do u think I should do?
I'm afraid to use these products without bleaching my already white hair!
To me that sounds crazy to me so I don't know what to do!
Any ideas?
I do have Splot which has bleach & peroxide. it is Lusty Lavender. I may have gotten the wrong product since it bleaches my white hair!
I also got L'Oreal Color Rista Simi-permanent metallic orchido4 ( for blond, bleached & highlighted hair.
That may b very wrong for me!
Anyhow I'm not going to do anything except maybe the permanent Splat since it has the bleach which seems nutty to me, but I guess for it to take even on white hair I'll need to use the bleach.
Let me now if I should just return these since they R seemingly all wrong for me.
I wondered if I could heat my hair so the semi-permanent might take hold since the heat would open the cuticle.
Your thoughts about what I have.
Thanks for sharing.

Okay so please help me! I've got a couple questions that I haven't found answers to. I'm trying to dye my hair black but also want bright red tips (think like 2007 punk/emo girl vibes lol. My hair has previously been colored multiple times. It's currently a purple color, but the colorist I went to fudged it up pretty bad so the tips are like a orange-y color with purple hue (just so you have an idea of how much she didn't know what she was doing: SHE STARTED APPLYING BLEACH AT THE ROOTS.
So what I want to know is 1) for this process, can I dye my hair black then use a color remover like Oops! on my ends, and then bleach those ends after if it's not light enough to get the results I want? and 2) how do I get the ends even all the way around (so if I straighten my hair it will look like the line between red and black is straight. instead of choppy and uneven. all the way around my head?

If I have died my hair red previously but now I want to go lighter to a light golden brown. I bought bleach and 20 volume activator. Is that right? Also do I have to dry my hair after I've bleached it in order to start dying it the light golden bright? How long should I wait between bleaching and dying my hair? Do I need to use toner no matter what with a semi permanent color to achieve a light gold brown?

When I say lift, I mean like the hair cuticle doesn't actually open. That's what's lifting, and then the color molecules actually go inside. 10 Volume it doesn't do that - it lays pretty much on top, slightly inside. Now 20 volume is good for those of you looking for 1 to 2 levels of lift.

What about using a semi permanent on bleached hair such as Manic Panic? Do I need to use a colour remover first to remove my box dye, then bleach then use Manic Panic? Or do I just bleach then use Manic Panic?

Let's suppose I want to colour my natural black hair into hazel colour, can I just use a blonde hair colour and then use hazel colour over my blonde hair. Or should I use volume 20 or 30. Please help.

If you have dyed your hair red with box dye, and its faded, your roots have come through (medium brown)and now your ready to re dye, do you still stick to the faded coloured ends first or roots?

Wait, he said use a toner after bleach, but then he said T18 isn't a toner? On the bottle it says toner, I'm so confused! :( Other than that I love this video so much

I remember when I was 19 I pre lightened it.
Went blonde for a week then went dark again in weeks
My hair is easier to style when not in the best condition

So, when I bleach my hair, the toner I use is the color of my natural hair or the color I am trying to achieve? Just want to clarify so I dont have a disaster
